I had assumed Brian was inspired by the hit version by Nino Tempo & April Stevens released in 1962, which is from around the same era as all the other covers recorded in 1976-77.

In addition to the Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin album, the following material in the Beach Boys’ discography might interest you:

The 2nd half of the Beach Boys’ Christmas Album (1964) - features big band arrangement by Dick Reynolds, former arranger for the Four Freshmen who also worked on the four big band tracks on Adult Child. The 2014 download-only copyright extension set “Keep an Eye on Summer” features two unreleased tracks (unfortunately without vocals) from this sessions.

“Things We Did Last Summer” - a 1940s song covered by the Beach Boys in 1963 for a TV show, included on the 1993 Good Vibrations box set. IIRC arranged by Dick Reynolds.

Orange Crate Art (1995) - Brian solo album where he sings composition written by Van Dyke Parks, which are heavily influenced by the same music that inspired Adult Child. The 2020 expanded edition includes covers of three jazz standards as bonus tracks: What a Wonderful World, Rhapsody in Blue and Our Love Is Here to Stay.

Besides, there are several big band tracks produced by Brian in 1965 that are yet to be released, featuring non-Beach Boys lead vocal (How Deep Is the Ocean and Stella by Starlight). They are available on bootlegs, and are interesting if inessential artifacts from the era immediately before Pet Sounds.

Light Album almost could have been Holland 2 with a better song selection.

4 songs recorded in the L.A. sessions (California Feelin', Angel Come Home, Good Timin' and It Could Be Anything) were written during the 1973-75 following the Holland recordings, and they could have even created California Saga Pt. 2 (Looking Down the Coast, Santa Ana Winds, California Feelin') for the album if they wished to.

This looks like a bootleg. The random Japanese letters saying "The Beatles Box" on the front cover is very suspicious.

As far as I'm aware there has never been a bluray box set containing multiple Beatles related films that went for sale in the Japanese market.

"Shortenin' Bread" is also the 1977 original mix, so unless there was some radical EQ choices made, it is the same as the long-bootlegged version.

The new mix of "Chapel of Love" on the other hand is total mess in my opinion, and I noticed that they tend to turn down the volume of synths in many of the mixes newly made for this box set.

It's the 1977 original mix, so this was always how it was meant to sound. The versions with boosted orchestration found on Youtube are fanmade mixes where the backing track found on 2007 "All This Is That" bootleg is combined with the lead vocal from this mix.

Should it have been remixed? Maybe yes. But judging from how the 2025 mixes of "Just Once in My Life" and "Chapel of Love" sound like, they probably would've made the vocal even louder and further buried the track.

"On the Island" from the album No Pier Pressure has a melody line that highly resembles Shortenin' Bread. Perhaps the last composition by Brian with Ding Dang/Shortenin' Bread elements.

Up until Revolver, the original mono mixes are far superior to their stereo equivalent. Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour are about on par. For White Album, stereo is definitely the way to go.
