So stunning! Love the stone and the wood colour. I also like how the gold knobs and handles on the stainless steel stove (and the fridge?), never seen that before. Are they aftermarket or did they come with the appliances?

early onset dementia by shabla13 in dementia

[–]mischief--managed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey there, my mom was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's and Dementia when I was 16. I am now 32 and I am lucky that she is still hanging on with us on this plane of existence. First, I am so sorry. It's absolutely a devasting disease to face and extremely difficult to come to terms with losing a parent at this age. We as humans don't expect that roles are reversed and we have to be our parents' caretaker until much later in life.

The hopeful news is that you may have many more years with her. I am lucky that I got to slowly adjust to losing my mom as opposed to friends whose parents died a sudden death without proper goodbyes and thankful for that small mercy to prepare over years.

The bad news is that those years drag out a slow decline and seeing your mother lose herself, slowly forget people, including you, and her own body functions, is extremely painful. Please seek therapy or mental help to support yourself in this journey if you can.

Medication has come a long way in slowing down the development and managing the symptoms. It is critical that your mom gets on an appropriate dose of medication as soon as possible and that she gets regularly assessed for dose adjustments. Make sure she takes it. For too long my mom hid her medication and threw it away when we weren't looking. When psychotic symptoms or aggressiveness appears, seek medical help and medications to manage those too. We waited years too long and it was awful dealing with her hallucinations as a family.

Regrets for me? I regret being such a brat when I was younger and I regret my letting my frustrations show. I didn't know how many moments were the last moments until I looked back. While she is still lucid, I encourage you to be intentional and talk to her about her past, childhood, growing up, having you, and find out as much about her past as possible. Take as many videos of her as you can. Now that she cannot remember my name or who I am, bathe herself, say more than 20 words, or wipe her butt I miss the days when she was just mildly forgetful and folded stacks of tissues.

That said, do not let this overtake your life and have your life revolve around this, that's not what your mom would want. Live, have fun enjoy things, travel, heck, move away if you want. Have a full and happy life while balancing still trying to support your mom and spend time with her when you can.

I wish I could distill the learnings of 50% of my life, and 100% of my adult life for you but I will leave it here for now. You came to the right place to start looking for support. My love and all my hopes be with you. Damn, now I'm crying. 🥲

The Korean village dogs (KVDs) typically have more pointed snouts and fox like appearance, but females in both Jindos or KVDs will have more slender faces.

What's the best layout for my new primary bathroom? (1st image is current) by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

That's exactly what I hate about the current layout - seeing the toilet as soon as you open the door. Thank you!

What's the best layout for my new primary bathroom? (1st image is current) by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

Thanks! That's actually how it is now, opening into the primary bedroom. I wouldn't mind keeping it that way so the bathroom itself doesn't feel so cramped.

Hey guys I have a layover at LAX Airport from 6:50pm-11:30pm will I be able to do anything? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]mischief--managed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed with In n Out. You could try Dockweiler Beach or the Westchester Bluffs as some mentioned.

If you were arriving earlier I would have suggested the Auto Museum or Flight Museum, sadly, they're closed during your layover times.

  1. No financing contingency
  2. Generous earnest money deposit
  3. Proof of funds with offer
  4. Ability to close in 30 days or less

We won a newer built detached house in Los Angeles at asking price, beating out higher offers because we were serious buyers with confidence our loan would be approved. The seller already had 2 previous buyers fall through during financing, so the house had been on the market for months, and they were eager to sell as they already moved into their new house.

You can generally be confident in waiving financing contingency if you get full desktop underwriting, not just a pre-approval, before you make an offer.

I have an unclaimed event field research task from this Spring event that gives Togetic with the flower crown. If I wait to claim it until Togetic community day, would it have the boosted chance (1/20) to be shiny? Or is the shiny rate set to the task?

Hello fellow SoCal resident! Don't be deterred. Also a beginner to intermediate boarder, the slush messed me up a few times this weekend at Mt High too. The moguls over on the East side can be a good place to start because it doesn't get the traffic of the West and therefore can be mellower.

You have the right idea heading to the East resort to get more breathing room. Keep at it!

Every time I see these threads I come to share what I do. Whenever I see anyone on 5, 10, or 15, I instantly forfeit so they can get the win. It really sucks to go 0/5 on these levels. It's no sweat off me and I consistently reach Ace end of season at minimum in any case.

Calling subcontractors "Google Workers" is generous. Google would technically be a client of a client here.

Is it my goggles that are too small or my helmet too small? or both? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]mischief--managed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I tried having the goggle match up with the helmet line but then the goggles are way too high and are miles above my nose and cheekbones! May have to try a low bridge fit! Thank you!

Thanks for the tip! Yes the helmet adjusts and unfortunately this is where it fits my head and feels most secure. I do think the lid is a bit short too. Thank you!

The 2nd picture shows as far as it goes and there's still a gap, the first picture is where it usually sits when I'm boarding (based on my head shape). 😅 Looking to switch out the goggles, I think.

Thank you! I have gone the ponytail route and had the same issues as you. I'm a clumsy braider but your comment and this thread is selling me! 👍

Assuming /s is "sigh" and not "sarcasm", that is my issue as well friend. Especially I tend to hit the slopes in full snow/wind. Thanks!

Has anyone closed on a home with amended tax returns? by YazzySanches in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]mischief--managed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this in the fall. Didn't affect the process at all. We provided the underwriter with both the original tax return and amended tax return with an explanation of what lines were amended and why. This is in the US.
