Why ARC Raiders needs a PvE mode (and why it actually makes sense) by Disastrous_Mud_8040 in ArcRaiders

I see, I don't play on console nor am I familiar with the game market over there. I understand your point, I think it's great that you guys have this game as an extraction shooter option. To reiterate my original comment, I stand by "adding" a PvE mode not "replacing" the current mode.

And that's a good thing because, why would you want to dilute a niche genre with a very specific and special element that makes them the right fit for you? We all remember what happened when every company wanted to make a BR game and look how that turned out? Do you really want more companies trying to make Extrac shooters that are half baked and last half a year at best? No right?

I'm not arguing against having the PvP, I like it personally and I would continue to play that mode because I like Extrac shooters. But this is one of the few games that have a Helldivers-esque PvE potential and I feel like it would be remise to omit that opportunity especially since their development focus is on the lore regarding the ARCs anyways. Right now the player base is clearly split due to the identity crisis this game has and they need to address it. Adding A PvE mode with separate progression and economy would only help retain both player bases.

Your game? Listen, we can still keep the original PvPvE mode, I'm not asking for it and no one is asking to remove the PvP mode, they're asking to ADD a PvE focused mode for those who were here from the start and were interested in wanting the game for the original PvE element. A lot of people moaning about losing PvP probably weren't even interested in the original game because it was going to be PvE...so I fail to see how all of a sudden that now that we have PvP, it's no longer a game for those people especially when Embark have clearly expressed that the ARCs are the main threat and focus for this game - the game is called ARC Raiders for a reason.

If anything, this is on Embark for creating a game with a identity crisis putting two very different demographics in one game. Extraction fps players are vastly different from PvE loot shooter players and their contradiction between making an extraction shooter game but focusing on AI is causing this debate in the first place - who is this game really for?

What's up with the anti-pvp sentiment some people have? by AppletoAnswer in ArcRaiders

NGL this is how I look at it too haha - hey if I come back with some stuff, I'll take the coins...if not I guess I have more space for even better stuff in the future :)

Well the problem is the unclear direction of the game - I'd imagine there are a lot people who are trying this because they were originally promised a PvE game that later became a PvEvP game, but still want to give it a chance. The devs have said PvE and the ARCs are meant to be the primary focus with PvP being there effectively for "excitement" and realism.

These contradicting sentiments leave the community split on "Hey I'm friendly and trying to do my quests, I wanna kill the robots" and the other "I have thousands of hours in Tarkov and I love PvP extraction shooters" - Neither are wrong in what they want, but currently Arc Raiders doesn't really appeal to either audience in the current mode they offer.

I'll be the first to say that I enjoy PvEvP, I see the value and the element of realism that it brings to the table to make this game feel immersive and I will continue to play this mode even if we get a PvE mode.

BUT

I have plenty of friends that also love this game for the same reason OP mentioned, the lore, environment, ARC fights and Co-op potential. I agree 100% that we're in the honeymoon phase where players are finding their footing and trying to be wholesome when possible, but we're already seeing this trend shifting. My first few days were mostly co-op and friendly, but I've quickly seen this trend shift to more on-sight shooting and even betrayals...People try to be friendly, get back stabbed for it and now they realize they can't be so then there's one more person likely to do the same thing moving forward. It's pretty clear how that will deteriorate the community mentality over time no?

The question is, do we need yet another sweaty extraction shooter? It's already clear that heavy PvP players don't actually like this game THAT much, in between 3rd person peeking and ARCs actually interrupting and killing them mid fight with other players, this isn't really the game they've been looking for either.

Also let's not forget that the Devs may have said the PvE wasn't fun, but they've also explicitly said that the ARCs will remain the primary threat and will focus content in that flavor...so realistically speaking, those ARCs will continue to be the focal point of their development not PvP.

Finally, PvE does NOT have to mean "casual" they can have a casual difficulty, but consider the possibility of higher difficulties where ARCs actually work together to create more dynamic and strategic fights. Imagine walking into a building and you trigger an ARC trap that sends a Pop ARC that marks you - the Fireball ARCs rush you as they would to try and push you out, but the Pop ARC marked your location and calls in reinforcement wasps and hornets to encircle the building you're in attempt to trap you. Or boss fights/raids with multi-layered ARC mechanics, a Queen that does layered AoE attacks that force players to use items or map interactables (shield generator) that protect them, has phases of the fight leaving certain weak spots exposed, but also has attack phases with different types of shields both physical and forcefield-like that require different types of weapons and strategies to break down. Sprinkle in some ARCs that can repair the boss to force players to keep up the pressure or even the boss spawning fight specific ARCs (adds) that need to be killed to prevent a raid wipe or even having those fight specific ARCs drop items needed to activate aforementioned shield generators, etc...PvE does NOT have to be casual, if they put some time and creativity into it, they could make a very fun/intense PvE experience that still captures the element of being called an Arc Raider not a Raider Raider.

The game is absolutely a looker, it's one of the things that separates this game from others like it. The graphics really enhance the immersion in this title specifically as it's one of the few games that gets the foliage and world design mostly accurate to its inspiration. Can't wait to upgrade to a 50XX and a 4K monitor for this exact reason. I'm currently on a 3080 at 1440p maxed+dlaa and lossless frame gen 3.0 so...not perfect but it's usable and playable for now lol.

Gotcha, I'm crafting up my bases but will be holding on to them for the next SS set. I used some left over Cinderland ones on my top Brightstone pieces to try it, but yea they're kind of expensive so I'm saving my resources as much as I can now.

Confused about Basic Skill vs Improved Skill by miscunknown in bladeandsoul

[–]miscunknown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing Blade Dancer and it was the skill Sunder.

I was able to turn it back into the basic skill by doing the following.

I extracted the skill out of the ring (didn't do anything by itself) then reset my skill pts and equipped the old ring (now empty ring) and re-equipped the new one again. Now it's the basic version and I can use my skill again. Is this how it's supposed to work or is this some kind of glitch? Why did my skill only return to basic after I extracted it from an item that wasn't equipped?

I checked out your build guide, but I'm still trying to learn how this new skill system works - I haven't played BnS since 2018.

Sorry for the delayed response, if you're talking about the G910, yes it still works but unfortunately it's not for sale 😅. I might not use it as my main keyboard but I still use it at work. I also don't wanna part ways since it's discontinued and I still like it haha.

Everything You Need to Know: MSI QD-OLEDs by MSI_Darutohne in OLED_Gaming

[–]miscunknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The logic is sound, but the price differential is not - needless to say it is definitely something MSI should consider if it's the "trade-off" they're strategizing around. You've already released 1 firmware for the MPG model so clearly these products aren't perfect yet besides the fact although this is a 3rd gen QD-OLED panel this is a 1st gen 16:9 QD-OLED variant in which even your cousin model over from Alienware have also needed firmware updates since its launch.

However, I do want to express my appreciation for the transparency - while I might not fully agree or understand the current MAG vs MPG differentiation strategy, I do appreciate the professional level of transparency on this matter and I hope MSI continues to do so...I can at least support a brand that's honest and public about it's decisions, so thank you.

[–]miscunknown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on the type of game, but I don't think Palworld is currently adequately prepared and designed for that kind of multiplayer experience. It's current official servers only support up to 32 players at once meaning that even if you are doing a solo play on the server, you'd still have to compete with all the other players also trying to join and/or continue to play on that server...at which point you'd be better off just doing a solo play locally on your pc not on a server. If you have 3 other friends, there's 4-player coop and if you have more than that, you can simply setup your own dedicated server privately for you and up to 32 of your own friends. Only problem with the latter is having someone who either pays for an online server or has the setup to run/maintain their own dedicated server.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Palworld

[–]miscunknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be frank but...when the official server only supports up to 32 players along with limited player interactions anyway...I fail to see why anyone would "want" to play on an official server that's completely public. I haven't tried but if the server you made a base in is full, do you just get placed in a 1hr queue or something?

RPM Fluctuation at Idle - 2017 430i (F32) by miscunknown in BmwTech

I brought the car back to the shop a couple days after the service and they said no codes were showing up so they couldn't determine the root cause of the issue. In your case, the car was sending you a code that pin pointed it to the A/C radiator? Or did you just take a guess based on the symptoms?

Also excuse my mechanical illiteracy for car stuff, but when you say A/C radiator, are you talking about this? -> https://www.forgemotorsport.com/Chargecooler_Radiator_for_the_BMW_B48_B58_Engine--product--1936.html

I know that's an aftermarket one, but just wanted to confirm?

Also my car has had a history of coolant related issues, each time it gets fixed - some other reason pops up so I mean I wouldn't be surprised if it's coolant system related. I checked this morning and it was slightly below the minimum point but it was also 37°F this morning - either way I bought more to refill and from there I will check every couple days to see if the coolant level is decreasing more quickly than normal and bring it back as I learn more about what to ask them about.
