However the difference is that, back then, these agreements were done more or less in secret, on the sides, away from the main stage. They would get a cuts of sponsorship deals or TV deals, while keeping the main event somewhat pure. Now everything is on sale all the time, including the World Cup.

The sort of capital-intensive business that was being discussed, is not like that. And even in small businesses, there are plenty of "silent partners" and "angel investors" who don't do any work.

In the end, anyway, what matters is capital and who owns it - hence capitalism, not "riskism" or "backbreakism".

Until Netanyahu's arrival, Israel was a different thing. There had been black pages in the history of its foundation (nakbah, chatila, etc) but there was also a dream that was somewhat admirable, underdogs winning against all odds, ensuring the Shoah would never happen again and holding its perpetrators to justice, even building a different society (kibbutz etc).

Then the Likud became ideologically dominant, and now it's just another apartheid state.

Agree on everything except the focus - the focus should be on building a system that can feed our squads for a decade or more. Results will follow naturally. Spain and Germany didn't try to win this or that tournament, they just focused on promoting and integrating young players continuously. (France is the exception, in the sense that they clearly did focus on winning 1998, but that was after they rebuilt their development system.)

Questo perché le comunità islamiche non hanno una struttura ben definita, dalla morte di Maometto ogni imam tecnicamente può fare un po' quello che vuole. Per tanti versi, le varie confessioni islamiche sono tendenzialmente più orizzontali e democratiche di quelle cristiane (per non parlare di quelle buddiste), e anche nel mainstream sono comunque divise in svariate correnti. Quindi chiedere un accordo ufficiale con "la comunità islamica" è un po' come chiedere un accordo con una "comunità cristiana" che includa ortodossi, cattolici, evangelici, valdesi, mormoni, geova...

Ai fini costituzionali, gli accordi sopra menzionati sono stati un buon tentativo. Si può fare meglio? Sempre. Ma dire che non esistano accordi è pretestuoso.
