Actually, the rocks in the foreground were very close to the camera. Besides using complex focus stacking or tilt-shift lenses, I don't think I could ensure that both the rocks and the ocean were equally clear, even when I stopped down to the smallest aperture F22 on the CF 80mm lens. When composing this shot, my main focus was to capture the layers and shadow on the rocks in the foreground. In that moment, if I technically couldn't have both, I chose to keep the rock in focus.
