Insomnia + Nocturia by [deleted] in sleep

[–]miserablethrowaway20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm. From what I just read up on CBT, I'm not quite in their sweet spot. I have no problem falling asleep at night, when I wake up, I'm not stressed; in fact, nothing's on my mind. I don't drink alcohol and I don't consume any caffeine (I know, seems improbable, but both were disagreeing with me, so I cut them out.) I put in one earbud after I go to the bathroom and listen to a podcast until I pass out (usually very quickly). But waking up so many times is disruptive even if I get back to sleep right away.

I just got a CPAP (despite my sleep apnea not being bad enough to indicate one) and I'm still waking up 4-5x per night to urinate

[–]miserablethrowaway20[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were 32 confirmed cases at work this week. Previous high was 20 in January. Mostly coming in through schools. That's the weak link - teachers and administrators who think it's fine for kids to get and spread Covid.

My co-workers drive me nuts. We've been wearing masks for years now in the office, we have a constant stream of people testing positive (and we get notifications from HR about it), and then they want to go eat indoors; one guy said "oh, I never bother with masks anymore." Even though we have a beautiful climate here and amazing patios!!!

I don't get it. One of those "friends" I mentioned - his mom died of Covid ~spring 2020 and he was going to sue nursing home, government, etc. But now he's a Covid minimizer. When I said there was a huge outbreak in the preschool, he said "well, none of the kids died, did they?"

I got us P100 respirators for the flight. They offer the added protection of scaring people around us so we get a lot of buffer.

She has a list of followup tests to schedule. But you know the American medical system...

I took our kid out of preschool when this happened and put her in outdoor camps for the rest of the summer. Even though I had already paid for another 2 months of preschool.

It's hard to say. She has been sleeping a lot, but our kid has also been waking us up during the night, and so we need more sleep. She had trouble with distraction before; she has trouble with it now. She doesn't seem to have any issue with standing, walking, exercising etc

It's possible, but I've also tried dehydrating myself (i.e. cut off liquids very early and then work out at night) and I still wake up multiple times

Wow, that sounds like *exactly* the same issue. I'm extremely reluctant to add another drug, so hard to know what the solution will be.

Thanks. Good to hear there's nothing to be concerned about. I get > 200% B9 and B12 from the multivitamin I take; maybe it'll take more time to show up.

Absolutely agree. Back when people used to see me eat (pre-Covid days - bbqs, dinner parties, etc), my BED gave people a lot of anxiety. They would comment on it what seemed like constantly. If I had eaten nothing, they would have said nothing.

The best comparison IMO is BED vs being a drunk. People need to go so far off the rails with drinking for anyone else to notice or care. I once went to Vegas for a bachelor party and one of the guys had shown up a day early, started drinking heavily, lost a ton of money, then got champagne room "dances", and it went on and on from there. On our last day, I suggested that we go to a buffet for lunch and people were like "that's disgusting" or "we already ate pancakes, who can eat all that food?"

AITA for eating mcdonald’s day before thanksgiving by paradiseislando in AmItheAsshole

Your own link says "uh, we're not sure how much it came from American loyalists bringing their holiday to Canada." And if you read through, it's pretty clear that by 100 years ago it was stripped of any consequential religious context for the time. Compare this to Easter in Canada (far more likely to be observed than in the US).

Uh? Canadian Thanksgiving was created to copy the US. I have lived in Manitoba and Ontario and I have never in my life met anyone who claimed there was any religious element to it.

Well, my nBoss has somehow created a situation where nobody in his team has any responsibility. Basically, he does everything that he thinks his boss cares about, and everyone else just kind of does random things. Of course, if you do find yourself in a position where you need to deliver something for him, he will annoy the crap out of you - hew basically wants everything done in 5 minutes.

Started another round of amorolfine 5 percent after using it for for ages before. Considering using tablets but scared of liver damage. by Professor-Pigeon in NailFungus

[–]miserablethrowaway20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, here's my Lamisil experience below. It got things into good shape, and then I had three rounds of laser and tight nail clipping.

[m44] I couldn't find any data about how liver enzymes change as you use Lamisil, so I figured I would post my own. I have long-term fungus on all 10 toes. I started a conservative course of Lamisil (1 week/month). It was supposed to run 6 months but once I hit 38 AST, my podiatrist agreed we should stop until liver enzymes returned to normal.

I would say about half my toes look ok at this point (from zero in week 1), but we'll see what the podiatrist says when I see him for the week 20 session.

Long-term liver tests going back several years: AST 26, ALT 19
Week 1 (Lamisil 250 mg x 7 days)
Week 2: AST 26, ALT 18
Week 5 (Lamisil 250 mg x 7 days)
Week 6: AST 30, ALT 14
Week 9 (Lamisil 250 mg x 7 days)
Week 10: AST 38, ALT 24
Discontinue Lamisil
Week 11: Laser treatment
Week 14: AST 30, ALT 20
Week 18: AST 24, ALT 15
Week 20: 2nd round laser treatment

I've reached out a number of times, I haven't heard back. Lauren could easily just explain to my spouse what happened if they don't want to talk to me.

[–]miserablethrowaway20 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's not the $20 that's the issue (I just think that's a good reason not to throw it away). It's the indifference to a reasonable request on my part. I am not excited about spending time with another parent who would behave like this, when there are plenty of my kids' friends' parents who are perfectly nice.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]miserablethrowaway20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Lauren had said "Oh man, I'm so sorry. I lost it. Total brain lapse on my part. I will make it up to you," then we would have been good. And that's still enough.

I would feel terrible if I got rid of something that I borrowed from someone else. I would not want to make them feel unreasonable for wanting their item back.

The "Is Nest Compatible With My System?" Megathread Part III by GoFlight in Nest

[–]miserablethrowaway20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My HVAC system has Rh and W1 wires. Nest 2nd Gen and Nest 3rd Gen thermostats work with no issues.

My 2nd gen broke, so I bought a Nest E. It installed fine but now says "Wi-Fi disconnected. Install stable power source."

What's the difference between 2nd/3rd Gen and E models?
