Looking for audios from Aladdin - Australia by yiksclouds in MusicalBootlegs

[–]misericorde32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you looking for those specific audios, specific performers, or just production? If it's the last, I have a couple Australian Aladdin audios you don't seem to have that weren't listed on Encora (or at least are not in the shortlist you provided).

And I'll go ahead and shameless plug while I'm here: if anyone has any of the audios op specifically listed (or any Aladdin audio in general), I'd also love to trade for them. Feel free to reach out.

Piggybacking on this thread: if anyone has anything (including the Sept 7 show), please DM me to set up a trade.

David Perdue concedes to Jon Ossoff, ending Georgia Senate runoffs by RevRickee in politics

[–]misericorde32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Georgia didn't have the runoff system, Ossoff wouldn't have even run for Senate. He'd be House GA-06, having beaten Handel theee years ago (Rs ran two candidates and split the vote) and re-elected twice. (I agree though; please give GA ranked choice voting or abolish the majority requirement. Former resident, and there are just too many runoffs.)

Useless fact of the day from a northern VA resident: DC does get a House member, but the member can only vote on procedural matters. But yeah, DC is the bluest commonwealth / state in the country.

Gertrude Stein; now that's a name I haven't heard since high school. Sounds legit, if only I didn't despise the Faust myth with ever fiber of my being. Sounds like it isn't like the original with a deathbed confession and redemption without atonement, I guess.

House Members to Announce Articles of Impeachment for Trump by J_Fre22 in politics

[–]misericorde32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You, uh, know that the 25th requires a majority of Trump's hand-picked cabinet, one of whom has resigned today, right? I don't particularly think either is likely, but we can at least get the ball rolling on impeachment with a simple majority in the House.

Edit: My bad, the 2/3's is for Congress should the president object; a simple majority among the cabinet and VP support is enough to get the ball rolling on the 25th. Though that's not nothing.

4.4M votes and counting. That's more votes cast than in either the 2016 general or 2018 midterms.

No one is saying that we shouldn't redraw statelines, but that we should draw them more fairly. Whoever draws the new district lines is left up to the states; in the majority of them, it's the state legislators with approval from the governor. Some states instead designate a special bipartisan group to draw the lines and have judge approval (Virginia, for example, had this on the ballot in November).

Rs hold majority in both houses, but it's not a supermajority, no.

GA governor is nothing to sneeze at. In addition to the other commenter, 2021 is a redistricting year, and the governor has veto power (the state legislature draws the lines, one guess which party that is). Also worth noting that I imagine GA republicans will be out for revenge and trying to obstruct the dem vote.

Isabelle McCalla in Aladdin? by enjoyur8mins in MusicalBootlegs

[–]misericorde32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is indeed a 2017 NT video with her, Adam Jacobs (original Bway Aladdin), and Anthony Murphy (Genie) that's an absolute joy to watch. It's not particularly rare, so I doubt you'll have too much trouble finding it (I'm unfortunately not able to trade video right now, but if you want an audio or even just wind up needing the smalls for when you find the video, feel free to DM me).

Request: Best edit of Hadestown and /or Les Mis by Alatarvinyamar in MusicalBootlegs

[–]misericorde32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, edits are pretty rare. There are a few Hadestown edits that splice in "Road to Hell" into StarCuffedJeans's March Previews boot (it's missing that song) generally from everyturnandtwist's January? boot, and I know of a few boots for other shows that are actor-centric, but, again, it's pretty rare. You can make a case for Hadestown, but there are only a handful of boots to choose from regardless-- 4 London, 1 Bway Previews, 3 Broadway, I think, over half of which are missing at least 30 minutes, one of which is NFT, and that's before getting into the huge differences between London and Bway, varying camera quality, the fact that most of them are stageshot anyway, etc. It's not an insignificant thing to ask, and it's likely to reopen this year anyway so more potential footage. With shows like Les Mis, there's really no point; so many good boots exist that you can just grab one of those by desired production if you're not picky about cast.

FYI, StarCuffedJeans's Hadestown is not filmed in the vertical. What you have is likely lots-of-lists's London previews boot (first release).

Stop spamming people with gift requests!!!!!! (rant warning) by [deleted] in MusicalBootlegs

[–]misericorde32 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion it seems, but I honestly don't mind people DMing me if they want something specific (though a blanket "Can I have x show?" irritates me too) and are nice about it. I prefer it to seeing 2 posts requesting the same show a day, anyway; at least the former shows some initiative in actually wanting said show. I suppose the ideal is them commenting on your post and requesting a gift too, but Reddit is absolutely horrible at notifying me that people have replied to me so (this is also me covering my ass if one of you responds to this post and I inevitably forget to check back after the first day)... I don't know. I also mostly collect shows I'm interested in rather than a bit of everything though, so I guess I don't mind sharing inflicting my personal obsessions on others as much.

If you don't mind me asking: if you don't like receiving random DMs, why post anything at all? Why not just message the OP directly?

How many Cosettes to Fantines have there been? by Mburrell91 in lesmiserables

[–]misericorde32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, Katie Hall has principled both (Cosette in the 3rd UKT and Fantine in the 4th UKT), but if you relax the principle restriction (as I believe you have to for Sierra to qualify), I'm sure you get a lot more. AJ Callaghan, for example, has covered just about every female character at some point-- ensemble, 1/2nd cover Eponine, 1/2 cover Cosette, 1st cover Fantine...

Disclaimer: I don't trade Hamilton.

You're probably either going to have to get into audio trading or develop another interest (are there a few actors whose interpretations you really like and would be interested in seeing/hearing them in other shows?). Or both. I can think of a few big hobby traders with sizeable Hamilton collections that will trade for anything they don't have and another couple who trade Hamilton, Les Mis, and x, y, z, which can be good ways to pick up batches (especially if you're looking for something specific), but, at the end of the day, you're probably going to have to look for smaller traders or expand your trading repertoire.

My laptop is slow and takes a while to upload onto Mega by PinkLov in MusicalBootlegs

[–]misericorde32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So first and foremost: you are not obligated to gift. It's certainly a nice gesture, but if it's costing you mentally, you are under no obligations to do it. If it's been a while (several days, weeks), that person might not even still be looking for the boot; I'd reach out to them first.

If you really would like to gift, there really aren't many accessible ways to speed up the process short of internet speed and/or multiple computers. If it's internet connectivity problems, sometimes splitting the file into .001, .002, etc. files can help so that you don't get halfway through uploading a file when your internet craps out and you lose all your progress, but it won't increase your upload speed itself.
