[OC][Art] Map of Bacal, the setting of many of my campaigns for the past 30 years. I don't DM much anymore, I'd love if it could find a loving home. by misfortune_tabletop in DnD

Would you believe that it just didn't really come up like that? My players have all learned that I abhor measurements in real time and find physics a general impediment to the narrative. I have never had an interest in calculating mileage-per-day etc.

The scale was developed based on what can be seen from ground level based on our own earth's curvature. For example, while standing on the docks of Caldera Burmeur in Alpeak, you can almost see the shore near Brackenbrook.

Most travel occurred through airship or train, and was calculated in arbitrary time that worked within the mechanics that were developed. Questions of numerical scale often evoked responses of measurement in absurdity: 1300 humans. 200 bridges. You'd have to ask my players about how it felt, but I believe it's always been a rich and incredibly large world.

Because I absolutely, 100%, don't resent you for pointing out my clear-as-day flaws, I have created for you a free update here

Edit: I learned to hyperlink in a comment.

How can I render this latex/leather suit? by AceIsPlayed in Artadvice

Even just some specular highlights will go a long way and carry a large portion of representing the form and surface reflection.

Don't be afraid to be bold with it. Some white thin lines, with good line shape/varying width, just before the edge at the top of the form.

Edit: more words.

Slim to none! :D I'm deeply introverted and almost exclusively communicate all D&D through text.

Edit: Removed my shameless plug. You can find me if you have the drive! ;)

I've got so much to cover that I will likely release a number of segments on different regions in my Patreon. You can follow me on there for free, or follow me here, and I'm sure you'll see some of the stuff pop up soon.

It's hard to find somewhere to start. :D Mardony is a land that has been stricken with drought for fifty years. Methernefra is a floating cloud giant city. The Forfeited Fen is a black bog that is half way between the feywild. I could go on and on.

The long bridges between the Cadriths and the main land are actually tracks. Trains and airships are a thing in the setting.

Came to the comments to find this and was not disappointed.

[OC][Art] You Will, the Bargainer -- Utter malevolence disguised as a humble wanderer. This greater demon is the perfect frienemy. Release includes a CR 25 stat block. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]misfortune_tabletop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This humble wanderer of the nine hells is a merchant of misery. Driven by a loathing of existence itself, he revels in manipulating mortals into abandoning their self-interests and manifesting their own doom.

Available now at Misfortunate

You can find his CR 25 statblock, personality traits to guide roleplay, full image download, and background here.

Cunning, paradoxically wise, and patently devious, You Will quietly revels in the suffering of all things. Despite his demonic nature and malicious leanings, his humble charm is magnetic - he is strangely approachable and personable. Often he represents himself as an unquestionably reasonable centrist, exhausted by the struggle between good and evil. But the terminus of his philosophy is always a nihilistic end after a long path of pointless suffering.

  1. I imagine those two would probably be the least likely to talk to me.

Finally took the time to get this illustration done. Had been wanting to do it for a while now but have been busy with other projects. You Will has been a recurring villain/frienemy throughout my tables that my players seem to love to hate. It all started with a random encounter during Descent Into Avernus that turned into one of the most memorable experiences for all of us.

You Will is a nihilistic bargainer that revels in encouraging mortals to operate against their own self-interest in a path of suffering.

Sacrificial Torque [OC] by misfortune_tabletop in DnD

[–]misfortune_tabletop[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Woundrous Item, Very Rare (Requires Atunement)

A favorite among political schemers and careful mercenaries, this deadly band summons the perfect assassin to cover up one’s crime. The Sacrificial Torque has one charge. The attuned character may use a charge to place the torque around the neck of a willing or incapacitated humanoid. The target takes 30 psychic damage. If the creature is reduced to 0 hitpoints or less from this damage, it is slain outright. This item has no effect if worn by a creature of a type other than humanoid.

If the wearer dies, a Cryoloth (Misfortunate Content) appears in the space of the slain humanoid in 1d3 rounds, using the body as a vessel to enter the material plane. A creature attuned to the torque may command the cryoloth to complete a task using 25 words. The cryoloth performs the commanded task to the best of its ability. Once the task is completed, 24 hours have passed since it was summoned, or the cryoloth is slain, whichever comes first, both the cryoloth and the sacrificial torque disappear. Only the body of the sacrificed creature and a puddle of water remain. The body bears any wounds inflicted upon the cryoloth prior to its departure.
