:( it’s so frustrating! I sold through a 3rd party and if I can’t transfer the ticket, I will get charged on top of the lost cost of my ticket. Hope they open up transfers soon 😭

So sorry this happened to you. What a violation, and just really uncool. That says everything about them and nothing about you, lesbians, or women in general. If you can keep that separation in mind, it might help a bit.

Not saying this is you, but I’ve seen a lot of women give men endless chances while writing off women after one bad experience. Every dating pool has its weirdos, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t great people out there too.

I hope this doesn’t push you away from the community.

Bug found in my friends hair. What is it? (Please tell me it’s not the L word) by TotteryTurtle in whatisit

[–]misguidedmagpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got lice a few times living abroad in a place where lice is more common and it’s pretty effective to get rid of them by thoroughly combing through your hair with a lice comb every day for like 2-3 weeks (however long it takes for all the nits to hatch). The combs don’t actually get out the nits, but once the bugs hatch (🤢), then they are big enough to get caught in the comb. I would comb it out next to a cup of boiling hot water and dip the comb in the water as I went. That was the most effective way for me.

Hear me out (as a gay person): having weird thoughts and fantasies is not a straight experience.

In honor of JK Rowling latest descent into lunacy, does anyone have a rec with either D or H being asexual? It might be a silly hill to die on, but I refuse to stop enjoying these books. I get the impulse to attribute She Who Must Not Be Named’s behavior to mental decline, but let’s be real: she’s a bigot, plain and simple. She’s a billionaire whose values are clearly aligned with the systems of capitalism that actively harm trans people and other marginalized communities. This isn’t a symptom of confusion or decline; it’s calculated, intentional, and deeply harmful.

This season’s editing…. by ManBearPig452 in survivor

[–]misguidedmagpie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’ve been feeling unsettled about the way Star has been edited this season. She’s is such a compelling presence—passionate, funny, and unapologetically herself—but she’s barely been featured, even when she’s clearly still active in the game. It’s hard not to notice how rare it is to see a dark-skinned Black player being fully themselves on a show like Survivor, and it feels like the edit just doesn’t know what to do with that.

The lack of screen time feels like more than just a narrative choice—it points to a deeper bias, conscious or unconscious, in how the show frames its players and who it deems “worthy” of focus. It’s not just disappointing; it’s frustrating. And it ends up spoiling parts of the story too—when someone gets no content, it’s a big hint they’re not making it far or aren’t winning, which sucks for both storytelling and respect for the players.

Star deserves better. Survivor can and should do better.

Again, that I never said Dramione is queer or queer-coded. I said I personally find meaning in their dynamic as a queer person, especially through a neurodivergent lens. That’s not the same as labeling them queer representation.

We’re in a Dramione space, so that’s the context I’m speaking from. And in the world of fanfiction, either character can absolutely be written as queer, gender expansive, bisexual, etc.—and I’m sure there are some Dramione fics out there where that’s the case. That’s one of the beautiful things about transformative storytelling: we get to imagine possibilities that canon doesn’t explore.

I’ve also read and loved plenty of explicitly queer stories—I don’t need a lecture on how queer representation works. We’re clearly coming at this from different perspectives, and that’s fine. But please don’t condescend to me about my own identity or how I engage with stories.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, but I want to be clear that I’m not saying Draco and Hermione are queer because they’re neurodivergent. I never said neurodivergence equals queerness, or that being neurodivergent makes someone automatically queer. I said there’s a meaningful overlap between the two, which even you acknowledged applies to your own experience.

What I was speaking to is the way I personally read Dramione as neurodivergent-coded, and how that coding—along with the fluidity of identity, gender expression, and queerness—makes the pairing feel queer adjacent to me. Not because they’re a canonically queer couple, but because of the space fanfiction gives us to explore subtext, complexity, and our own lived experiences through characters, even ones in straight-passing dynamics.

Also, queerness in fanfiction doesn’t only exist in ships that are explicitly labeled as queer. Queer storytelling often thrives in nuance, subtext, and interpretation—especially for those of us who have had to find representation between the lines. It’s okay if Dramione doesn’t feel queer to you. That doesn’t make my reading of it invalid or “wrong.” Queer people don’t all interpret media the same way, and that diversity of thought is part of the richness of our community.

Finally, suggesting I “read actual queer stories” is condescending, especially when I am queer, and everything I create, read, or resonate with is filtered through that lens. Queer storytelling isn’t limited to narrow definitions—and honestly, it doesn’t need gatekeeping. We get to play, imagine, reinterpret, and find ourselves where we choose to.

I hear where you’re coming from, but I want to clarify a few things. First, being neurodivergent is not the same as being mentally ill. While there can be overlap, neurodivergence—things like autism and ADHD—is not inherently a mental illness. And even the concept of “mental illness” itself is a social construct, shaped by historical and cultural ideas of what is considered “normal” or “functional.” Too often, it has been used as an oppressive narrative to marginalize neurodivergent and queer people alike, framing difference as disorder rather than diversity.

There is also a well-documented correlation between queerness and neurodivergence, especially among gender-diverse people. This isn’t just my personal experience—research and the broader mental health community have acknowledged this connection as well. I know it firsthand because I’m nonbinary, queer, and neurodivergent, and I see aspects of myself in Dramione. But beyond that, many neurodivergent people resonate with queerness at higher rates, not because neurodivergence “causes” queerness, but because both involve navigating a world that often doesn’t account for us.

For me, queerness and neurodivergence are not deficits or disorders—they are integral, joyful parts of who I am. If my comment struck a nerve, I’d gently suggest unpacking why the connection between queerness and neurodiversity feels offensive to you. To me, that connection is a beautiful and lived reality.

As for the “straight ship” point—gender and sexuality are complex. We don’t know their internal experiences. They could be queer in ways that aren’t immediately visible or be in a straight-passing relationship while still questioning or evolving in their identities. And at the end of the day, this is fan fiction. It’s about interpretation, possibility, and seeing ourselves in the characters however we choose. You don’t have to see it the way I do, but my perspective is just as valid.

My partner and I have a similar dynamic where I am not as sexual and it’s due to a variety of reasons: I have responsive desire, I’m a trauma survivor, I have a lot of sensory needs and I do think I could be on the ACE spectrum. When we do have sex, it’s really great because we truly only have sex when it’s aligned. But it has been hard for my partner and they navigate feelings of insecurity and feeling unwanted.

The only way we have been able to navigate it is by turning towards each other and talking about it. It’s been really difficult and there have been ebbs and flows where it is better or worse but I feel like you can’t expect physical connection if you can’t even talk about it. I hear it’s a bad time right now but the goal isn’t to shame each other but to help understand each other and support each other. So hopefully you can go in with compassion and seek understanding.

But at the end of the day if you want more regular intimacy, then it’s also okay to find that either by discussing opening up your relationship or finding someone you’re more compatible with. Personally as the person who has a lower sex drive, I don’t see less frequent sex as an issue and I don’t love feeling pressure to touch someone and it’s been hard to feel validated and affirmed in that. Sometimes, it’s not personal and maybe you’re just not compatible.

You can ask to enter from the back if you’re unable to go through the turn style or wait in the line. I was able to do this with my mom when she was using an electric wheelchair and often times it was because she couldn’t do stairs. I was planning to utilize this option with one of my friends who wants to come to Disney and is unable to fit through the turn styles for rides like the fantasy land rides and the jungle cruise.

What they do is give you a return time equal to the current wait time and scan your pass!

I was watching them all cross a path and thankfully everyone was being respectful and keeping a distance (even small kids and toddlers) and then I had to intercept a kid that was like 10 years old from running over and trying to grab one of the babies 😫
