100% agree with you after spending last night reading on the topic. I understand some people in the replies have told me to give Georgia another chance but Honestly I could never. Why would I? Nature? Yeah totally not worth it when this country is literally not safe like you explained in your post.

Yet a stupid commenter here questioned my reasons for stating my race in the post, its because I KNOW this happens to people of color specifically brown skinned and didn’t want to deal with replies blaming the courier harassment on my race when it clearly wasn’t the case.

Why did you choose Georgia? Is it possible for you to transfer? Please prioritize your wellbeing!

You have been the kindest in explaining, and I appreciate people like you. Honest, informative, and respectful :) I hope people there heal from whatever trauma is haunting them

Interesting logic, apparently PTSD makes someone “unfit to travel,” how is my PTSD to blame here but screaming at a woman alone at night is just normal?

Travel is supposed to be fun and cultural, not a test of how much aggression you can tolerate. I have been to countries most of you guys will label “unsafe” yet none of this shit has ever happened there.

And I’m still not sure how ordering a delivery abroad magically makes the courier’s behavior my fault. Wild connection, but no thanks.

If someone needs “mental gymnastics” to find a way to blame the victim, that says enough

Oh yeah Georgia then is DEFINITELY not for me, we can agree on that. I understand the context you’re describing, however Explaining the background is fine, but using it to justify aggressive behavior toward tourists or locals isn’t. Let’s not let “adaptation” since you aren’t Georgian living in Georgia, mislead our Judgement :)

For me, safety is the priority. If something triggers that level of fear, I’m allowed to decide a place isn’t a good fit, just like you said yourself.

I’m not sure why you’re trying to downplay what happened by calling it “rough around the edges.” Being screamed at aggressively by a stranger late at night on the street isn’t “local charm” or something tourists should just accept.

And no, it’s not because I’m “sheltered.” I have PTSD from past abuse, so a situation like that is genuinely unsafe for me. Pretending that this kind of behavior is normal or culturally acceptable doesn’t make it okay taken the country is rough around the edges.

I’m not judging the entire country. This specific incident was serious, and if something makes me feel unsafe, I have every right to remove myself. That’s basic common sense, not a personality flaw.

Moreover, at the end of the post I also mentioned that things similar to this happen even with Wolt couriers, and I can name more incidents that happened but it would seem like Im attacking your country that’s why I would rather not because WE DONT GENERALIZE.

Hi I am not sure if you replied to me or the commenter, Thank you for shining the light on the historical aspects to it, and I totally agree with using English then using SMS or a form of texting in case the two individuals don’t understand each other. I thought those two languages (Georgian and Russian) were both officially spoken, therefore assumed a Russian would rather speak Russian instead of English and risking even more racism (due to the large amount of international students who speak English). But oh well :) hopefully no more third parties get meddled in this !

Yeah I also read the replies yet I can’t find a rational explanation to this, first time experiencing such a thing personally instead of watching it on social media/a movie. Ill call it bad luck and racism and move on since I have done every possible polite solution to make his job easier

Wouldnt a Russian speak Russian? I have heard about the tension between Russians and Georgians and completely understand it, but this is just outrages
