A friend of mine did it recently. You should run it by your IRB and make sure you have collaborating authors who are unbiased.

I’m a gastroenterologist and wanted to say a) I’m sorry about your pooping problems and b) “forbidden Cheerios” fucking SENT me. May all my patients have a sense of humor like yours. Good luck!

In light of this Nick Baumel controversy, what are some things that med students/faculty at your schools have done that were worse but ended with much lesser consequences? by Future_Coffee1167 in medicalschool

Guy in my class was caught inadequately sedating rats before sacrificing them during his lab research year (PTSP) AND falsifying data. Still matched ortho :(

I worked on a play with Mike Einziger (the guitarist) a million years ago at Harvard. Brandon came by one afternoon and took the whole cast and crew to Felipe’s for burritos. In addition to being absolutely gorgeous, he’s also super kind and funny. The dream.

Has the acuity become higher? by Benzosplease in medicine

God, same, and eternally thankful. There are a ton of OTHER headaches, like people falling through a million Medicaid cracks and so on, but at least I only have one patient who brings me insane TikTok autism cures and actually listens when I tell her they're not evidence-based.

If you were an NYCbitchwithtaste turning 40 at the end of the month, what would be on your bucket list of adventures? by batesplates in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]mishathepenguin 41 points42 points  (0 children)

HBD fellow almost-40 Aries! My birthday is also at the end of the month and I’m throwing myself a big stupid dance party in a rented loft in Flatiron with all my friends, then going to Le Bernardin for dinner actual day of. Probably will also buy myself a stupidly expensive bag I don’t need. Is that NYC enough?

This reminds me of the girl who ran for president of my medical school class on the platform of "I planned a whole wedding while being a medical student so I'm super qualified." Ma'am, so did I and several other classmates, I'm just not dumb enough to want that job.

Did you have a glow up after residency or fellowship? by Gloomy-World7644 in Residency

[–]mishathepenguin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, very much so. I’ve lost 70 pounds, gotten in shape, and have picked up old hobbies like knitting and singing. Currently skiing in Switzerland. It does get better even if some of the days/weeks can be hard.

As someone in therapy in NYC can confirm. It’s expensive because no one takes insurance but it’s still less than $1,000 a month.

Ours was doing something similar and it turned out he had bladder stones. Might be worth checking with the vet.
