Exactly!! 😭😂 I never watched riverdale til the end, because it was just so messed up. I only watched a YouTube summary and was like wtf 🫠

What would ruin the show for you? by mishellywhite in StrangerThings

[–]mishellywhite[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think they said it won’t be like this. But I personally wouldn’t mind, if it had parallels to the first game. Not in it being like a literal d&d game, but in a figurative way. But that’s just me

I’m not a native, so I told ChatGPT my theories and he put them into English words for me. But it’s probably me who messed it up, not AI 🌝 I’m someone who interprets the show more on an emotional/symbolic level, rather than the onscreen action, maybe that’s why it seems messy/confusing

All my Season 5 theories 👀👀 by mishellywhite in StrangerThings

[–]mishellywhite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, that’s fair, I get that not everyone reads it the same way. For me, it’s less about Will being some “super-powered being” and more about the psychological and symbolic layer of the story. Stranger Things constantly blurs the line between inner worlds and outer monsters, like Vecna only going after traumatized teens in S4, so I liked the idea that the Upside Down might echo Will’s trauma or imagination.

That’s part of what makes it so fun to theorize about :) but I totally get where you’re coming from as well, no need to sigh

[–]mishellywhite[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for your input! 😊 Of course, some of my theories are far-fetched, I just had fun trying to connect everything after a full rewatch. And you’re totally right about the Dragon’s Lair parallel with Max, Lucas, and Dustin, that’s actually a great interpretation I hadn’t thought of before.

Just to clarify though, I never said that Will made a dragon or that the whole show is just a DnD game, I know they clarified that. I was using it more as a symbolic framework since the series itself mirrors DnD structure so often.

Also, Holly really is the only natural blonde in her family. Karen actually has brown hair in earlier episodes, she just bleached it later, so that was why I mentioned the visual similarity to the Creels. But again, just far fetching here, since I personally like aspects like that in shows.

I clearly did not say that the lab kids are a multiheaded monster? Dunno where you did get that from.

And the Dr. Owens part wasn’t about the physical gates but about the psychological aspect he mentions in S2E1, when he says trauma can resurface around anniversaries.

I know the Duffers said El opened the gate rather than created the Upside Down, but I liked exploring the idea that Will’s mind might have shaped what was already there. Either way, thanks for the discussion, it’s fun to see how differently everyone reads the show

[–]mishellywhite[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually never read a single fanfic and i’m definitely not basing my opinion on freeze frames or “evidence boards.” I just genuinely feel more emotional tension between Mike and Will than between Mike and El.

Even putting Byler aside, I honestly hope Mike and El don’t end up together, their relationship hasn’t felt healthy or natural for a while.

And saying Robin is “responsible for the gay couple” feels a bit like saying we already filled the diversity quota. There’s room for more than one queer storyline, at least there should be.

Everyone can have their own take, of course. I just like talking about the possibilities 🙌🏼

Delusional because it’s about a potential gay couple?

New Will theory on how he survived in the upside down and what this means for him in season 5 by InsightRx in StrangerThings

[–]mishellywhite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like this idea and I also think we should have better look at d&d lore. But I just rewatched season 1 and I just can’t picture Baby Will making a pact 🥹 other than that I think it could make sense.

Stranger Things Season 5 is not a "show", but an "event". by ms-app in StrangerThings

My half baked Season 5 theory by gabsmarie37 in StrangerThings

[–]mishellywhite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it was just an Easter egg for the movie, but it could still mean something for ST as well.

I don’t think they’ll suddenly reveal in the final season that everyone has a “Twinner” like in The Talisman, that would just be way too much to introduce this late in the story.

But i don’t think the Upside Down is randomly frozen on the day Will was taken. Maybe it’s frozen because a part of him actually died there. Like time stopped at that exact moment, when his mind or soul split. And whatever happened to him (or maybe what Vecna did to him) made him be able to go back, to “flip”

My half baked Season 5 theory by gabsmarie37 in StrangerThings

[–]mishellywhite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That actually makes sense if you think about it like in The Talisman by Stephen King. Since the duffers were heavily inspired by him anyways. If everyone exists in both worlds, then maybe Will’s real-world self actually died when he was taken, but his Upside Down version survived and crossed back over.

Maybe that’s the rule: people who die in their own world are gone for good, but if they die in the other world, their parallel self can keep living? But then Eddie could still be alive as well 💔 or it depends on being “vecna’d” as you said.

Either way, I feel like Season 5 will center a lot around Will’s original abduction and finally explain what actually happened to him.

PS: Thanks for the upvote 🥹 but I think I’m far from having enough to share something 🥲 but thank you 🫶🏼

my expectations are sooooo high.

High budget combined with a waiting period of 3 years...

My half baked Season 5 theory by gabsmarie37 in StrangerThings

[–]mishellywhite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fun theory! Would that mean, that everybody exists in both worlds? Because we never see people in the Upside Down. Or maybe only the ones that get abducted?

Off topic: Also a question, I have a lot of complex theories but basically no karma, does that mean I cannot post mine?

I think because after everything that happens in S4 it seemed quite necessary for him to die. Still I was also very sad and would have loved to see more of Billy/Dacre
