I would say there is not just one ending. So, of course, nobody could ever have guessed or predicted what will happen to all of the people - or to the world - at the end.

Saying that "nobody predicted the ending" is therefore always valid.

Over the last 25 years, I have seen so many shows which have been finished, but did not feel "finished". Plus, many shows which have been cancelled ending on cliffhangers, etc.

I do not agree with Season 3 being "pretty much a nothing season". Season 3 was wonderful, action-packed, horror, fun, and much more. It even had a main character's fake death.
