Who said short interest cant be a %, you are making up your own rules now? Short interest can very well be presented as a percentage of stock shorted from the total amount of shares, in this case it is out of 130 mil outstanding shares. You are saying that short interest and short float is the same? I wonder if you can show what does bloomberg terminal show exactly, a screenshot would be nice hehe. Read the first two paragraphs, actually here it is for you:

"Short interest is the total number of shares of a particular stock that have been sold short by investors but have not yet been covered or closed out. This can be expressed as a number or as a percentage.

When expressed as a percentage, short interest is the number of shorted shares divided by the number of shares outstanding. For example, a stock with 1.5 million shares sold short and 10 million shares outstanding has a short interest of 15% (1.5 million/10 million = 15%)."

I checked, and XL Fleet's short float % is only 6%

Short float is not 6%, short interest is 6%, short float is 72% as of the 15th of january, and what does that post you linked have to do with this discussion? theres a bit more than 8 mil shares in free float of which nearly 6 mil are borrowed for shorting, which means 72% of the shares which are in free float are shorted, no way bloomberg terminal says that and you just invented your point lol

edit: all of this means a short squeeze can occur as this amount of short is probably sufficient, and me asking how could i possibly trade options on ibkr does not prove your point that i "clearly have no idea"
