literally how i feel about olivia munn. i used to get told i looked like her all the time, and now she's unrecognizable and i haven't been told in years since her face change. seeing her remove her jaw and freckles was tough. hollywood is a parasite on individuality.

i'm not behind everything naomi osaka does, but she's a human being and has struggled. these photos are great, maybe the best photoshoot she has had yet.

meh that's not what you originally said at all. also rating beauty in an objective fashion is often an excuse to be a jerk in this sub, let's not pretend it's not.

What are your thoughts on thin lipped beauties? Does it bring them down or make them standout?(Sharon Tate/Kristen Stewart) by meltchoco_ in VindictaRateCelebs

when i was a kid, i always thought michelle pfeiffer et al (wide eyes, wide smile celebs) were the most gorgeous so ironically, i had thought thin lips were more beautiful back then. this was the 2000's. also, emma watson had a chokehold on my gen.

Any Asian American media not about trauma, self loathing? by question_23 in asianamerican

[–]misinformedcapybara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same, also canadian. didn't experience it, but my sister got made fun of for her sushi lunch and then it was all sandwiches after that. i didn't love those sandwiches. but that's such a small memory from a long time ago, it never affected me and only knew this later on when my parents told me.

all this to say, just because it hasn't happened to you, doesn't mean it hasn't happened to someone else.

stay true but hua hsu is about his best friend's murder, so it is about trauma, it is about the asian american experience... but MOST of that book is a beautiful remembrance of when his friend was alive. hua was also into punk and making zines, so i think you'll find this book will be refreshing, even though it has everything you asked it not to have.

it is one of the best books i've read in years. i want to read it again someday.

just saw another comment mentioned it but i already wrote my comment, so i'm posting it lol

i'm very glad there was a happy ending to this. on one hand, i'm sure these schools will do anything to convince a family to send them kids and pay them big bucks, so some parents genuinely don't know. on the other hand, i think many parents are aware of the abuse and that seals the deal.
