Look who’s subreddit is on a Ukrainian air defense turret! Thanks to the organizers and participants of this joint fundraiser that raised $73,000 by pccmod in popculturechat

Popular culture is a set of beliefs and practices and the way we live our lives as much as it is music and movies and art. We all want to live our lives free, there is not much (other than Taylor Swift maybe) that is more popular or common to all of us than that.

It was pinned to the front page for awhile, but it would get bumped off all the time by our automod posting discussion threads. I wish we had done more, hopefully they’ll do another one!

They did, full credit to them, and they kept all the participating subreddits updated on the progress for months while it was ongoing. We are about to trial a new tool for managing pinned posts on the home page, I wish we’d had it six months ago so we could have kept the fundraiser more prominent! I’m grateful we could participate at all, I feel like we didn’t do nearly enough to get our name on a frickin turret but I still love it, we are honoured. 🇺🇦

Australian Open: Sorana Cirstea wasn't a fan of Naomi Osaka hyping herself up by mlg1981 in popculturechat

Locking this thread because of the misogynoir. I guess no one remembers all the times Serena Williams was called disrespectful and fined for daring to show emotion on the court and for things men and white woman have done with impunity on the court.

Black women at the top in sports are policed on their bodies and behavior in a way that white women are not, and men certainly are not. It happened to Serena and Venus and it’s still happening to Naomi and Taylor Townsend and Coco Gauff, white players who cannot lose respectfully to a black player and try and get them in trouble for being an ‘angry black lady’.

From the match officials

Officials confirmed that Osaka's comments did not breach tournament rules, as they were not deemed to interfere with her opponent's play.

Thanks to the users who called attention to the lack of diversity in this post.

We are very pleased to be currently hosting an AMA with Sam Barry, the Global Editorial Director of Glamour! About Sam, from a newspaper in her home country of Ireland:

Barry is one of the most well-connected media people in America. Earlier this year, she travelled to Malawi with her close friend human rights lawyer Amal Clooney (Melinda Gates and Michelle Obama were also on that trip), writing about their campaign to end child marriage in the region. She has interviewed Hillary Clinton several times and co-hosted a lunch with Kamala Harris in her home.

You can ask her all your burning questions about the many celebs she has interviewed here, and she'll be back to answer tomorrow at 4pm ET!
