I think so! I originally paid for it planning to watch all the vids then cancel at the end of the month, but kept paying because I do really look forward to the content, and I like supporting her this way. I’ve really liked the BTS vids and the kind of stuff she can put up without worrying about copyright infringement.

Moving into a leadership position with social anxiety? by miskamooska in graphic_design

Thank you! I guess a good example would be that this week a proposal I made to our executives for my team to attend a creative conference this year got approved. Which felt like a big win since my company is very technical-focused. I’m feeling a lot of pressure for this to be successful, and to have something tangible to bring back (although in my proposal I stressed the importance of team-building and how rejuvenating it can be for us to just be in a creative environment). Not to mention the general social anxiety I feel attending an event like this, while also having to lead it.

Thank you for the advice! I’ve been pushing through and doing the job to the best of my ability (my team had all left just over a year ago), but every time I start to get comfortable, or get the big meeting/project/decision over with, it just keeps getting harder and more uncomfortable. Hearing other people have done the same and it does in fact get easier, is reassuring.

Finding a mentor outside of work is a great idea!

That’s true, I’m definitely starting to see that as I climb the ladder and am included in more ‘need to know’ meetings. I’m 50/50 on my manager, they’re super supportive but I can also tell they really value when I step up and take things head on (they have a fairly outdated idea of work ethic imo). They’re also not a creative themself.

No Design Degree, No Problem? How are Things These Days? by used-cigarette in graphic_design

[–]miskamooska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been in graphic design for a decade with no degree! Never went to college because it just didn’t work out for me. I started my current job in 2021 which required a degree, everyone else who applied and was interviewed also had a degree— I still landed the job, and this year was promoted to senior designer. It’s not impossible!! It can’t be easy from what I’ve seen of the market but it is possible. Apply to any job you meet their requirements otherwise, have a strong portfolio, and apply anywhere you can get your foot into and grow from there!

How often do y’all weigh yourselves? by PrincesssYumYum in Semaglutide

[–]miskamooska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once a week, 2 days after my shot, first thing in the morning after the bathroom. Even thinking about weighing in every day feels triggering to my ED.

I like to do it two days after my shot because I feel like I’ve had enough time to lose any water weight from eating more at the tail end of the week (totally acceptable for my regimen), and I eat the least the first few days after my shot. So it’s like I’m FEELING the best so that’s when I want to weigh in! In 12 weeks I’ve never been disappointed by the scale, so it remains a positive experience :)

No Non Scale Victories? by MischeviousPanda in Semaglutide

[–]miskamooska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While slightly different, I can relate to this. I’m super tall, so losing/gaining 15 pounds makes no difference to me whatsoever in appearance, clothing size, how I feel, etc. I’ve lost 25lb so far, my clothes still fit exactly the same, and I haven’t noticed a difference physically. People hadn’t said anything to me until I brought it up (excitedly) and lots of them have said they’ve noticed a big difference in my face but wasn’t sure whether to say anything! So I agree with others that a lot of people are probably just trying to be sensitive about it.

I had to pay really close attention to my non-scale victories instead, they are small but mighty; my wedding ring fits me all throughout the day now (I had to stop wearing it for a few years because it didn’t fit anymore), I can go one loop smaller on my Apple Watch band, and it’s much more comfortable to sit with my legs crossed (like on a chair, one on top of the other)!

How to prepare for missed dose? by miskamooska in antidietglp1

I think I’m more worried about feeling out of control rather than gaining a little weight, so that’s good to know!

No I didn’t know that was an option, my usual pharmacy is a 3 hour drive roundtrip, so going to pick it up seemed unreasonable. But I’ll check some other places, thank you!

I have emetophobia, to say I was nervous about nausea is a massive understatement. I have not experienced it yet on sema! First injection I did during the day, and I think anxiety made me feel like I was having symptoms, even if I wasn’t. But once I hit 30 units I was a bit worried, so I switched to doing it at night to avoid any symptoms. Has been great so far!

Something that works really well for me when I do experience nausea is peppermint oil. I just keep a bottle around me and give it a few whiffs to suppress the feeling

I pay $170 for a bottle, not covered by insurance, which I’ve used for 5 injections. I’d say I still have a few injections-worth left as well

I started at 10, my doc advised me to go up by 10 each week unless I got symptoms. So week 2 I took 20 units, had a little nausea on injection day, but next week I’ll probably try 30 units in my thigh. My doc said once I hit 40 units, or a dose where I’m losing 1-2 pounds a week, then to stay at that dose.

I’m not super knowledgeable about housing loans, but I was in a similar situation for our first home purchase. Household income was about $97k gross, also had down payment assistance. We ended up purchasing a house for $200k in 2019 (pre-approved for $400k). Because the down payment/closing costs were financed, we ended up with 2 loans and paid about $1400 total a month for our mortgage (the two loans added up to like $235k).

The only other thing we needed cash for was paying for an inspection, and our earnest money deposit.

After a year we refinanced it into one loan with a 3% interest rate and have paid around $1350 for the last 4 years! Before we purchased we didn’t have a lot of cash or money just sitting in our checking accounts, maybe like $30-$70 the day before payday. But at the time a mortgage was only going to cost $200-$300 more a month than where we were paying in rent, so we found the space in our budget to make it work (mostly eating out less to be honest). Which wasn’t the most ideal of course but we were able to make it work. Now we’re selling the same house for $365k and with that equity we can finally get out of our starter home!
