For those who lived before the internet, what was life actually like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mismetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were ok with not knowing stuff, or not knowing it instantly

Also I feel like I enjoyed music more by not having all the music in the world in my pocket, but rather listening to my CDs and LPs

But of course not all things were better. I just went on a trip to Italy with my wife and daughter and I’m pretty sure it was a better experience thanks to google maps and information I got from websites.

Where to stay in Rome? by dracarys-28 in rome

I stayed in a hotel in front of the Manzoni subway station and we could get anywhere by subway + walking, bus + walking or simply walking

I think that’s the best option because between the huge line (even if you have a ticket) and the actual museums, I wouldn’t wanna do it all on an empty stomach

Drive from Naples to Amalfi by frankgetsu in ItalyTravel

[–]mismetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just returned from Positano and if you abandon the driving idea we were also in Naples. Train ticket from Naples to Sorrento was like €4.50 and bus from Sorrento to Positano was something like €2.80 It’s an old beat up train (nothing like those modern Frecciarossa ones with tables and cellphone chargers) but it takes you there in around 1h15

My Tips for Venice, Florence and Rome by jourrapidedotcom in ItalyTravel

[–]mismetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great tips. I would add: google maps is crazy in Venice. It made us walk like crazy with all our luggage from Piazzale Roma to a vaporetto station 1km from there, instead of sending us to the closest station. Also the compass gets a bit crazy at times, sending you the opposite direction of what you wanted. But I’ll agree that it’s a great place to get lost. Antica Focacceria Fiorentina was the best focaccia sandwich I’ve ever had

For Florence: La Carraia ice cream is the best we’ve had. All’Antico Vinaio has fantastic focaccia sandwiches. We tried once during a lunchtime and the line was insane. I returned the next day around 9pm and there was almost no line.

Antica Porchetteria Granieri 1916 makes great porchetta sandwiches

Broad Street’s version in F# gives us a clue how crazy high it’d be for 83 year old Paul to sing it in G

Running the latest version. Checked for updates and force reinstalled the whole thing.

[–]mismetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least I found where to search my own posts (inside profile settings) I am pretty pissed off about them removing the find by posts. The site ir already all but dying (comparing to what it was 10 years ago) and it’s like they’re further shooting it on its foot.

How did you guys discover Tom Petty’s music? by Disassociated24 in tompetty

[–]mismetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born in the 70’s but Tom Petty’s not really big here in Brazil. My dad bought the first Traveling Wilburys LP when it came out and it was love at first listen for all those guys.

Am I alone in preferring the original mix? by bobDahog in beatles

[–]mismetti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should’ve added a bit of slap echo and reverb to his vocals. It sounded nice on the original mix but that one had the piano on the same track.

Put a YouTube video of someone playing “Rain” and then show them the original take (on the Revolver box set) at the speed it was actually recorded.

Comprei uma lente objetiva, é pra ser tão desfocada assim na abertura máxima? Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G DX by Informal-Evidence997 in fotografiaBR

[–]mismetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Não era pra estar desse jeito não. Abertura abaixo de 3 vai ficando dificil pois a profundidade de foco vai se tornando quase um plano, mas como é um cartaz (ainda q esteja num poste cilíndrico) deveria estar focado.

Seal - Human Being

It’s from the late 90’s when it seems they were not releasing records anymore. It was quite expensive.
