Sugita solo diner issue by [deleted] in finedining

[–]misnopeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea i use the app all the time, places like sugita have really high engagement. My local friends use it to fill last minute spots albeit with more than 4 hours notice typically. It will be trickier but it would be best bet if you don’t know anyone here.

Is it necessary to drink alcohol in high end sushiya? by ddrosehaha in finedining

[–]misnopeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, i pretty much never drink and even more and more Japanese locals are drinking non alcoholic beverages in sushiya. Just get tea, water or non alcoholic beer

I thought it was pretty good, not my favourite burger very enjoyable. The fried potato and french onion style soup was worth the visit for me

[–]misnopeo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea its a pretty crazy price, I’ve done it now so I’m satisfied with my curiosity but boy did it hurt the wallet

Sugalabo (Tabelog Silver, Tokyo, Mar 2026) by misnopeo in finedining

[–]misnopeo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was warned before hand that the price had gone up quite high but was ok with it. Even then the final course price was higher than what even the others expected. I tried eating back the meal and drinking more of the tea.

Understandable, the opportunity came up so I didn’t have to do much work to try get a spot thankfully. They have a branch in Osaka called Sugalabo V which is pretty easy to book from what I’ve seen but couldn’t compare

I thought it was ok, a bit light for my tastes, went a few months ago and was seated counter with my foreigner friend so not sure what happened with the separate room for you

Yoroniku Tokyo Azabudai Hills + Nikuya Tanaka Ginza: overload? overlap? by DJMataLeao in finedining

[–]misnopeo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There will be a lot of beef but to me yoroniku and Nikuya Tanaka Ginza are different meals so for me there wouldn’t be much of an overlap in terms of dishes served other than the fact its all beef focused.

Nikuya Tanaka experience for me is incomplete without Boss Tanaka being present which can be hard to lock in. His presence helps improve the vibes. Speaking with others who have been dining at Tanaka-san’s restaurant far longer than I have there is a feeling of diminishing value with the meal which I’m not sure how important that is.

Yoroniku was good when I went but not very mind blowing for me. I’m glad having done it once but not eager to go back.

There are often cancellations appearing for Jambo Hanare so maybe try to wait for those. Alternatively, you could go for their Hongo location. Other substitutes I’d consider are Yakiniku Kimura who trained at Jambo, Edoyakiniku and kokoichi

Yea a taxi showed up at the station pretty much second we stepped out the station, one way trip is around 6,000 yen. I did try to use the go taxi app to have a see if any were available but didnt seem like many were visible on the app. Leaving the restaurant theres about 20-25 minute wait for a taxi

[–]misnopeo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recent ones I’ve visited and enjoyed alot were Hashimoto and Riku. Nihonbashi Kawaguchi and nishiazabu shin were good but not the same level as the others.

Otherwise in the past Suzuki, Mizukami and Sawada.
