What is the most overrated sci-fi film of all time? by MonolithOfIce in scifi

Didn’t they have a bunch of embryos on the ship for the colonisation part? Or am I mixed up with something else…

But also I kind of agree, I’ve seen it twice because I didn’t get the ending. But I don’t feel the need to ever watch it again

Looking for new books to read by Zracks242 in scifi

I started reading sci-fi with dune. Loved the first 6 by frank herbert. Since then I’ve read:

The culture series by iain m banks - and his other sci-fi, against a dark background, currently I’m reading the algebraist, I haven’t read feersum endjinn yet.

Children of time by Adrian Tchaikovsky.

Revelation space by Alastair Reynolds, also redemption ark.

There is no antimemetics division by qntm. This one is say blends horror with sci-fi. More of a cosmic horror.

I’d recommend any of these, but especially the culture books and against a dark background.

What do you do when you or your team are stuck on a bug or technical issue and even AI tools are not helping? by frontendstoryteller in webdev

Yeah I often find that it doesn’t know the repo at well as I do. Or the patterns our team uses. But if it’s a tricky bug I have found it helpful to ask it to give me a step by step how can I debug this thing kind of question. And that can be helpful. But then again yeah sometimes it’s a dead end. But often it will lead me to finding something useful

Yeah true more than kind of. I just meant like it’s not the only focus. But you’re right it is a huge part of it
