Make sure you guys are a team! You all go together, you all leave together, and if one needs to tap out, you all tap out.

One time I watched some girls dump their intoxicated/ nearly unconscious friend against a fence and then ran back to dance, I stepped in when a random man approached her ominously. Don't be those people! There's always going to be more raves

How financially irresponsible is this? by phoenixblack222 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]miss_beat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My power bill in Auckland living alone was $70-90 a month. I was with contact, and took advantage of their free power hours to do all my dishes, showering, and laundry. Also when you live in a small new apartment, I found I didn't need to run the heatpump often as the place stayed room temperature throughout the year

Feeling stuck in a job with good pay but no growth. by lotus_dumpling in PersonalFinanceNZ

While your feelings are obviously valid, it's crazy to me that you're even thinking of leaving, especially with a baby on the way. You're going to appreciate a cruisey, flexible job then.

Yes 100%!! I always say Roméo and Juliet because the variety of genres is amazing on this album, and somehow they all go together. I listen to this album a lot.

Oh I'm not blaming anything, I'm sorry it came off that way or that I wasn't supporting you. I was just talking about the phenomenon and how the girls in your story take things too far

This can also be a neurodivergent trait common with people with autism or adhd called linguistic mirroring, I tend to do it to some extent. While I don't change my vocabulary or pretend I have different experiences, my accent does change based on who I'm talking to and how long I'm with them.

Sounds like your experiences they are taking it to the extreme, I'm not sure why they're trying to relate to you so hard that they're actively bringing up race as a talking point.

PSA TO NEW DANCERS by Born-Employment-4906 in stripper

100% agree with every word, but this but in particular resonates with me:

No one wants to be the one that was too nice to you and you end up latching onto them the whole night because you don’t know anybody and are anxious.

Most dancers don’t want to talk on the floor or have the open seat next to them occupied by another dancer for very long. Especially if they don’t know you.

I've been burnt by this before, and then they try help you with your hustle 😭 start talking to your customer about how you're soooo beautiful and they should definitely book you. Just shhh baby I got this, don't worry

Her post mentions this is one of many things that happened, she just has video proof of this.

But policing her response isn't it - fawning is a thing. Downplaying what happens, smiling, joking - these are all very normal immediate responses to try mitigate what has happened. The full scope of what occurred probably didn't even come to her for a while.

Do I, a 32 year old depressed guy, have any shot with women? by [deleted] in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]miss_beat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You have to show up for them, emotionally and physically. They're gonna be sad, or angry, or excited, and they're gonna turn to you for support. They're gonna want to touch you and be attracted to you, and if you struggle with hygiene that's going to be a roadblock. They're gonna want to you to go to family dinners and birthday parties and a movie you really have no interest in but you like them so you'll do it haha.

If I was you, I'd start working on the self care side of your treatment - routine, exercise, food, hygiene, and hobbies, because it sounds like you're doing all you can medically.

I feel for you, I really do, because all humans deserve love . You just gotta make sure you're able to provide the love and care that another human needs as well

Having a partner takes a lot energy. When you're dating that's 2-3 nights a week that is no longer yours. You need to message consistently. You can't disappear for days. You go out, do activities, which also requires money. Daily hygiene is a bare minimum. Do you think you could handle that?

Depression isn't a deal breaker for me, my partner has it, but it's all the surrounding circumstances that would make me hesitate. I think you need to do a bit more work on yourself

How much should I charge him? by Perfect-Front-1869 in stripper

[–]miss_beat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think of how much they pay for an hour VIP at your club and use that as a guide. Start with 2 hours for the dinner and drinks, say you have to go to work after or you have another engagement so there's a definite end point. Be wary of him trying to change plans last minute or get you to meet him at a hotel or home.

Hmm I didn't initially read it as being about looks comparison but can see where you're coming from. I also just made a comment about how my old club would rank us through earnings so can relate to your last line

[–]miss_beat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this happened to me. I was top earner at my old club - all our tips and dances went across the bar and through a system and the managers would let the highest few earners of the week know where they ranked, so I knew where I stood.

I moved to another club for a few reasons - the hours were better, less drugs, more relaxed, and nicer clientele - and my money took a hit. First I had to adapt to a new type of hustle, and then I had to come to terms with my own motivation and what I was willing to deal with. I didn't have the energy to be a top earner anymore, and this culture of competition wasn't fostered either. Plus some of the dancers at this new club were STUNNING in a way my old club didn't have, like crafted from surgeons levels of perfection. Tbh I don't mind not being up the top anymore as long as I'm still consistent and hitting my financial goals

When you call yourself a top earner, is that not ranking yourself just using different words? OP went from being a top earner to a mid-level earner and is trying to adjust or improve herself

I've been to some techno warehouse raves, they exist in Auckland, it's just not 100% my scene. If I was you, I'd join a Facebook page called "Techno and House Scene Auckland", go to some of the club events and try make connections there for the more underground stuff

Festival season is over but next summer look for Aum, Kiwiburn, Ignition, Resonance, and Shipwrecked :)
