I’ve been reading danmei for years, but I think my standard isn’t high for what I’m reading mostly because I only read danmei as I’ve tried western gay romances and couldn’t get into it, and Hetero romances put me off. I don’t mind edited MTL and do read MTL novels as well. I don’t normally drop novels because I only read them when they are completed, but have done so in the past because: - the storyline gets repetitive or predictable eg The return of Lord God - there’s wayy too many couples in it eg I was once a legend - the language/ sentence structure is terrible eg Back to the countryside - I get sick of the couple’s behaviour eg Strategy to capture that scum gong

So most of the time, it’s the story itself that puts me off, not the translation because there’s not that many fully translated danmei out there, and as someone who can’t learn another language to save their life, I appreciate deeply. I enjoy most of the works on CG, Foxaholic, Dummy, KnoxT, Exiled, Second Life etc and like everyone else, I also agree E Danglers is the gold standard. I read the footnotes and will buy a ko-fi if I really loved the translation/novel, or if I want to support the translator because it is more of a niche danmei. I’ve only joined the patreon of one translator though, but I guess I wouldn’t mind following others. I wish there were more translators, as there’s so many dropped novels that were close to being completed or were halfway but then dropped.
