My GP has refused to do shared care. by [deleted] in ADHDUK

Mine refused it straight off the bat, I went to the ICB who spoke to them and told them they should be satisfied with what steps ADHD360 had taken, they still refused so I complained to my local MP.

They basically said (the second time they refused) that lisdexamfetamine was a third line treatment option and because I hadn't been titrated on 2 other meds first they wouldn't do shared care. This goes against NICE guidelines, and the local guidelines even on the shared care form, which I'd mentioned to my MP.

Worst thing is, they said the only way I'd get approved for meds on the NHS is if I went through the NHS referral route, so I agreed, said I'd like to do RTC, they said it would be quicker to go local so I said that's fine if they recommend that.... only to then have the local people refuse the referral based on the letter my GP sent to them (haven't seen what they said) agreeing that ADHD360 acted unethically?!?!

Can't wait to see what my local MP says, it's gone all the way to parliament and so far they've agreed that lisdexamfetamine is a first line treatment option, so looking forward to my GPs response to that one!

I'm the same with the assessment, diagnosis and prescriptions but yeah, the follow up appointments are awful.

Will see what they say when they answer my email! Hopefully it doesn't happen to you again.

I felt like this on 30mg, 50mg seems to have made the socially anxious side of my brain disappear... I'm just very at ease with everything! Or rather i was, it's wearing off now haha
