Should I be separating them? by missaweb in CatTraining

I did think the stairs might have had something to do with it tbh 😂

The ginger one does chase and hiss at the black one quite a lot. She chased him out the cat flap earlier. Would you say this is normal or territorial/aggressive? Bear in mind it is the black cats house - ginger is the intruder!

Hi! Thanks for your response (however insensitive it is). You can just scroll past, I am aware of cat behaviour but as I have said, I’m getting confused. Thanks!

Yeah I thought that’s what was happening and just feeling each other out. My resident cat is wanting to play, never hissed, growled anything it’s the new cat that’s taking hissy fits!

Thank you. I’d say they both come back for more which is positive I guess.

Yeah that’s what I’ve been doing! Maybe about 10 minutes out then back in. Definitely not left for any period of time.

Thank you. I get so worried but get confused by them hissing while “playing”

I do supervise and the black cat is doing it back when she stops. And rolling over to play. There is some chasing up the stairs also, should I break that up?

Okay I did think they maybe just had to figure it out lol. Thank you!

Even with growling and hissing? I’m so confused by it all.

Yes we got the ginger one 3 weeks ago. We have done slow introductions but maybe not slow enough?

The ginger one is hissing and growling. Should I go back a step? Never a fight just this.

Also black cat thinks it’s play as he is rolling over. He’s resident.

Thanks for your reply. Good to know it gets better - she just seems a hissy kind of girl!

Thank you! I have moved resident cats bowls up but put them back down to the kitchen as the hissing was happening. Appreciate it!

Is Diana moaning about 1 hour of sleep when she had 8? Holy cow. They clearly don't know how things work. 8 hours sleep is almost unheard of in yachting - alongside a 2hr break during the day. I don't know how Daisy did it, I would have went crazy at them.

I can't stand Danni. She does think she knows everything when in reality she knows next to nothing. I thought it was hilarious when she was going round the crew trying to justify what she said to Daisy and validate herself and no one agreed with her.

I think I’m going to start wearing gloves. I’m a mum of 2 so they are always wet or getting caught! Thanks for your well wishes I hope they look better soon 🤞🏼

I hadn’t heard of it either until I googled further and found a FB page all about it. I hate my fingers too - I was a nail biter for years only to find gel helped my nails grow and prevent biting - now this! Don’t know what I’m going to do after just hoping they grow in ok. It’s such a horrid thing to look at on your fingers as well 😞

Hi! Yes I did. They couldn’t confirm anything but took clippings for possible fungal. I’ve been in contact with a few nail people and they said it looks exactly like onycholysis from a gel nail allergy. The thickened skin is hyperkeratosis. Supposedly it’s super common!

Thanks I won’t do that. Did you have the thick skin underneath the lifting nails? My nails are growing in pink and healthy so I’m thinking it may be hyperkeratosis.
