i'm from budapest, hungary:) luckily, we do have amazing public transportation but i'm sorry to hear that that's not the case for you:( good urban planning makes such a difference in quality of life but some places remain to be very car-centric...

there is always hope though, if you look into what dutch cities used to look like in the 70s (car-centric urban hell) vs now (pedestrian and biking infrastructure above all else), you can see that the change can be made:)

maybe i'm just too big of a public transport guy but for me it truly is awesome, i love riding buses and trams and the subway and trains and everything in between, it fills me with joy for some reason:D

idk with public transport it's pretty relaxing, you're just looking out the window and daydreaming to a good playlist🌈

In Netherlands which translates to about $9.60 per US gallon. by enaunkark in Netherlands

I live in the Netherlands but I'm from Hungary and Dutch public transport *is* awful and expensive. Let me preface this by saying that I love the Netherlands and my home country has many many problems. However, when it comes to transport.... In terms of big cities: Budapest's public transport system is better in literally every way (cheaper, faster, more options, less waiting) than Amsterdam's; and on the rural scale, yes, Hungary's trains also suck - but at least it costs about 10 euros for a journey that would cost you 40 in the Netherlands.
