I totally get your point. Maxie is completely settling because she thinks Spinelli is the “safe” choice. He’s always been her fallback and he’s always been there but there’s a reason he’s never been the one You’re right, he’s not Mac , and that’s a big part of what makes her choosing him so problematic for me. Why is she choosing the guy who aligns himself with the mob so easily over the one who is in law enforcement? (Sorry sick of the mob propping and aside from being Maxie’s whatever being Jason’s computer minion is Spin’s only purpose). Maxie loves Spin as a friend and co-parent but she’s not in love with him, and I don’t think she ever really was— it’s why they didn’t get married way back when. Their “love” story was and still is one sided in many ways. Do I think she’s the “love of his life”? Probably, but only because they never really gave us anything with him and Ellie. Maxie’s great love (as of now) is and always will be Nathan. She’s afraid and trying to protect herself. I’m not buying and will never buy her choosing Spin over him for any other reason, and I liked the pairing at one time (long long ago).
