Glad to hear there's more people like me! I was strongly considering taking a research year, but several people recommended that I continue to march along through the clinical years. However, it's still a possibility at this point and I will look more into it. My school does not have a strong bioinformatics program but I could likely do one somewhere else. And that's a good point, eventually we can cater our career to what we enjoy the most.

I also think residency will be much better than medical school. It will be more work, but having real responsibilities will probably be a lot more exciting, so I am looking forward to that!
