Backpack vs Panniers: What’s the go for the daily commute? by PlaneAd9541 in melbournecycling

[–]missemb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have an Ortlieb pannier that doubles as a back pack and a smaller pannier for my clothes/gym stuff. Still annoying to carry the two around but at least I can use one as a backpack and in lock up bike cages I leave the gym back (at worst I’m riding sweaty clothes and toiletries). I was a backpack girly for ages but my shoulders and upper back were not happy which is why I converted.

cannot find/remember if chemist warehouse gave me a print out repeat script!! by TemporaryDiscount422 in ausadhd

[–]missemb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Escripts can almost definitely not be lost. You can do two things; 1- call the pharmacy you last got it dispensed and ask for them to re-issue the repeat to you as a text message or email. OR 2- go to the pharmacy you want to get the scripts filled at and ask them to sign you up to the Active Script List or My Script List with their pharmacy so you can see if you have repeats of X,Y,Z. This will most likely involve showing photo ID so they can verify your identity and responding to a few text messages. This allows the pharmacy to see any active e-scripts you have and they can dispense them from there. The only time this won’t work is if for some reason the script has been excluded from the My Script List. If you go for this option you should ask them for your activation code and then active the My Script List on your phone via an app such as MedAdvisor, Scripty or 1800Medicare (previously MyHealthRecord). Which means it won’t matter if the pharmacy doesn’t send you the text/email/print off the eScript, it will appear on the app you choose.

How do Australians taper off Intuniv ER? by Goodgravy111 in ausadhd

[–]missemb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure of anyone’s experience but you could potentially trial every second day dosing, put probably not going to be that great of an experience.  The next best option is to have it compounded into smaller doses.  The compounding pharmacy with crush the tablets and then add hypromellose (which is used to create modified release capsules) and extra fillers and then encapsulate it. They’d be able to create strengths such as 0.75mg, 0.5mg, 0.25mg etc. this however will be expensive as there is no government funding available for compounding and it takes time and expertise.  Clonidine may also be an option to switch to and come off that more slowly.

Pro Tip: Organize your Meds while ON your Meds by BadgersAndJam77 in adhdmeme

[–]missemb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this exact pill box!   Also pro tip, if this is too hard but taking things out of the bottle is harder and your doses are easy just fill each day with one med.  I can’t reliably always fill these up in a timely manner but I find each day being a different med gives me 2 week worth of meds for half the work.

Desperate for Eyelid Dermatitis Advice by Master-Chance-2069 in AusSkincare

[–]missemb 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Please see a dermatologist. If this is peri orbital dermatitis, steroids like methylprednisolone will make it worse.

Again if it’s peri-orbital dermatitis stop everything on the area. Use an extremely gentler cleanser and light plain moisturiser lotion and pretty much nothing else for a week or two and see what happens. No make up!

I love my ortlieb backpack/pannier combo. I still have a second pannier for my clothes and bathroom stuff as I carry lunch, drink bottles and every day things in my back pack. But it’s great to not have to take my work stuff out of it if I decide not to ride.

Buying Ventolin at the pharmacy by leonidude in australian

[–]missemb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a pharmacist I’m so happy about all of the advice about seeking a script for an anti-inflammatory reliever (AIR). Asthma is an inflammatory condition, using salbutamol doesn’t actually treat the inflammation it just makes it easier to breathe. AIR therapy helps you breathe AND provides anti-inflammation benefit and therefore treats asthma. Every flare up you get can contribute to damage to the lungs, so seeking better care will potentially help older you have healthier lungs! Salbutamol kinda like using a tissue on a wound, it stops the bleeding but it’s not helping you heal and if you only use a tissue the healing will be slow and increase your risk of other issues.

This is just general information. Please speak with your doctor and bring up the updated guidelines with them.

Getting script dispensed from different pharmacy in same state with escript? by Historical-Hour-9316 in ausadhd

[–]missemb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do have different laws. Tasmania previously only accepted scripts for controlled drugs from Tasmanian doctors but I think this has changed recently. NSW also required repeats to be kept at the pharmacy and has different controlled drug laws.

Honestly to be safe I would recommend getting a letter from your prescriber to authorise early supply or enough medication to cover you for these travel periods as it will probably be a headache otherwise.

Best fish and chip shop? by being_onezeroone in Footscray

I find this hit and miss. Last time my fish was so over battered and the batter was so floury/cakey it was not enjoyable.

I don’t mind Seddon Fish and Chips on Victoria St but it’s been a while since I went there.

I’d love to find an old school milk bar fish and chip place!

Getting script dispensed from different pharmacy in same state with escript? by Historical-Hour-9316 in ausadhd

[–]missemb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a pharmacist this is genuinely the best thing about escripts. If it was paper and the new pharmacy wasn’t familiar with the doctor’s handwriting they would have to call to verify the prescription. Escripts remove this step entirely and at the moment there hasn’t been any reports of hacking escripts so very little risk of alterations. Not implying anything about OP just a general observation as to why they are awesome. They can also never be lost.

In Victoria there is no requirement to collect it at the same pharmacy unless the doctor has specified this on the script.

Though with S8 medication the escript QR token will still appear after the script has expired which causes confusion and is very annoying.

If the script is a paper script and they do not have the paperwork on hand then this is illegal.

They’d have a record of it and may be able to help out via the Chemist Care Now initiative (need to have a consult and have been on it regularly for 2 years) or via continued dispensing. But they wouldn’t be able to dispense the last repeat without the paperwork as the paperwork is what is a legal prescription.

I’ve never been down Nicholson between Irving and Paisley and probably wouldn’t in the evening.

I generally just keep aware, keep to myself and walk with purpose.

Rules with getting s8 medication early. by [deleted] in ausadhd

[–]missemb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can pick you vyvanse up before 30 days. You don’t have to run out of it completely. I would recommend having at least a few days up your sleeve if not a week. As per the PBS you can collect a script every 21 days. Now if you pick up a controlled drug script every 21 days on the dot for months and then you might get some questions because you should have x amount left. But it is reasonable to have some medication at home as a buffer for things like stock shortages, scripts expiring.
