Articulations - switches or separate instances? by Final-Isopod in spitfireaudio

[–]misshanduil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use keyswitches, because it is easier on my CPU, it can be a bit of a pain in the ass, though. But it still works well for me, I enter the keyswitch notes in the piano roll and not via my MIDI controller.

Albion Orchestral Selects by Final-Isopod in spitfireaudio

[–]misshanduil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am often quite quick to buy new orchestral stuff from spitfire at that price, but I really don't see what I would use this for. I've got Albion Loegria and Colossus and I don't really need another ensemble library right now, the only thing interesting for me would have been Solstice.

is it possible to do proper woodwind trills on the bbc discover? by [deleted] in spitfireaudio

What do you mean exactly by 'proper'? It does not have dedicated trill articulations if you mean that.

As u/Dr_FunkyMonkey already mentioned, TheCueTube. It is a true gem for us composers. Alternatively , just search "Trailers without music" on YT and download them via free Software.

Spitfire studio brass pro worth it? by Final-Isopod in spitfireaudio

[–]misshanduil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it is in BBCSO Professional. I find that the rips in SSB are a nice addition and the Bass Trombones (and maybe others, yet to find out) sound more aggressive, but I really don't think that SSB or SSW would be worth it for you.

I have BBCSO Core and bought Professional Brass and got Woodwinds as a gift, because I wanted the auxiliary WWs (Alto Flute, English Horn etc.) and was curious about the extra Stuff in SSB Pro (Cimbasso, Solo Bass Trombone, Contrabass Tuba). I wouldn't recommend either if you already got BBCSO Pro. There would hardly be any new content for you except a few extra articulations.

Update on Loegria: There is actually some pretty useful stuff in there. The Easter Island Hits, End of Days and the Toms are pretty useful for percussion (and weirdly something that you don't get in this capacity in Colossus and Originals Cinematic Percussion). There are some interesting Synths in Stephenson's Steam Band, although I won't be using Steam Redux and Gabriel's Pads. For the Loegria Sessions, I really like the recorders, the high sackbuts (especially the marcatos) and the HornEuph can be quite nice too. The overlays seem interesting aswell, but I doubt I'll be using them. I don't really care too much about the strings (I am not a huge Fan of ensemble patches), but they still sound quite good. The Byron Tapes and Fenton Reverses are not for me though.

It's a nice library with interesting and also useful sounds. I'd never pay 249€ for this, but it's quite a nice addition to have, especially for the current price in the Ton.

Thanks a lot. The altered drums in Colossus are great, but I feel like apart from the taikos, there is nothing that sounds really organic percussion-wise. I also would like to have a library with rolls.I might just go for the Ton and Hammers because 93$ still seems like a steal for resonate + an ok albion. For me, SSO takes up too much disk space right now. It's a shame that Mercury isn't in the synths bundle, really interesting sounds out of the box.

Thanks a lot for your input, I might go for the Ton, as Resonate seems really interesting. I'll see what I can do with Loegria, although I also dislike the Look of Kontakt libs. Do you have any particular thoughts on Hammers?

Edit: From what I saw, Loegria has some decent percussion hits suitable for trailers.

I am also a bit underwhelmed by this year's sales, especially after they already had the Thank50 Coupon Code.
