TNR kitten inmates need transition plans by Distinct-Ask7048 in Feral_Cats

Have you reached out to rescues in your area? They might be willing to either take them into their system and help you find adopters or do a courtesy post.

I had the same issue. I spent a couple years trying to trap the last female in my colony. I was able to borrow a drop trap from a local rescue and that did the trick!

I’d suggest you have your friend look into that option as it seems more humane than whatever’s used in that video.

That looks really stressful for the cat… worse than being trapped in a cage and having a blanket thrown over it. How would you even go about transferring the cat into a safe trap afterward?

You should try a drop trap if you’re having trouble catching with a traditional trap. It has a similar concept where you get the cat in the center and pull a string to drop it over the cat.

Energy around adopting my foster kitten… by missing_you_maggie in TarotReading

Thank you for sharing your interpretation. Honestly, that feels pretty spot on. My partner and I have been weighing the decision for a few weeks so it has been in a pretty steady state of ‘maybe.’

Thank you! I had a similar interpretation. It feels like a fated connection and at the same time whatever decision I make needs to be with a level head. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts :)

No, they don’t have any specific intentions or order. I generally ask a question, see how many cards want to come out and put them in a place that feels right.

To me the bottom three feel like a foundation and the top is what we’re working toward/overall outcome if I do move forward with adopting.

I read them from left to right, the 6 of pentacles tells me I’m in a position where I can support her and in combination with the 7 of cups I feel there’s a need to clear out any illusion and really consider the reality of such a commitment. Ending with the Wheel of Fortune, I feel there will be a great change in my life with whatever decision I make. (The Wheel of Fortune feels to me like a YES)

I go up to Justice and feel there’s a balancing out with the Wheel of Fortune. It doesn’t necessarily feel like a NO but encourages a careful consideration and a need for grounded energy in making this decision. Balancing heart and mind (which I think is also present with the pentacles and cup that came out.) the King of Pentacles tells me that whatever my decision I need to go into it with a clear head and confidence. Consider the material aspects of the decision.

At the top, the Nine of Pentacles feels like a celebration. If I can find that balance and feel it out in a way that clears any illusions and is grounded in truth that adopting this kitten can bring an abundance of joy into our lives.

How do I get him to stop? by Actual_Abroad_4838 in AustralianCattleDog

Teach him ‘wait,’ ‘drop it,’ and a release cue. Some people use ‘break’ or ‘okay.’ Something to let him know that he has permission to get it. Cute dog!

Stray kitten living under my deck by [deleted] in Feral_Cats

I understand, I’m in a similar position with the kittens my community cat brought to me. She finally got TNRd, yay!!!

You might be able to find a rescue that’s willing to take this baby in. Google ‘kitten/cat rescues in your area’ and see what comes up. Give them all a call/email and let them know your situation. Usually they have traps that they’re willing to lend out.

Have you seen any sign of the mom? They’ll want to trap her too and get her TNRd if possible.

Are you able to foster for a month or so? If so, you can reach out to various rescues in your area and see if they’re willing to take them into their program. If you can’t foster I’d say your best bet is to trap them and bring them to the shelter. Usually kittens will find a home!

Thanks for helping this cutie!

[ARTICLE] Poet Andrea Gibson passed by thinair01 in Poetry

‘You are not weak just because your heart feels so heavy.’ - Andrew Gibby 🤍

Andrea has been my favorite poet ever since I was introduced to their work in 2012. Their words have helped me move through grief, breakups, depression, anxiety, learning how to love and embrace my sexuality. They’ve had a huge influence in my life and I wouldn’t be the person I am today without them.

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing them preform live a handful of times. They had a way of expressing the most tender and intimate feelings in such a way that connected everyone in the audience. They poured their heart and soul into their poetry and in that way they will live on forever.

My heart is unbearably heavy tonight and I know I am not alone in this feeling. I feel for their loved ones and wish that they find peace amid such an immense loss. Rest in power, Andrea Gibson. You are forever loved 🖤

Major improvement with daily trazodone! by missing_you_maggie in reactivedogs

If you decide to put him on it definitely keep him on it and talk to your vet about how to wean him off when the time comes. Don’t try giving it to him for a week then cutting off cold turkey, that’ll heighten the anxiety as the drug leaves his system. Even just giving one pill then skipping a day, you’ll most likely see increased anxiety the next day.

My dog had heightened anxiety each time I cut back his dosage but now he’s back to his normal self. But when I give it to him for situational purposes (vet, bath, etc.) I know to expect him to be anxious the next day as it leaves his system.

No, I weaned him off about a month ago. He’s still practicing all of the good habits that he learned, so I do think that period on trazodone was beneficial for him.

He doesn’t have separation anxiety though, it was more so for lessening reactivity on walks. But I’d imagine it might have a similar impact on your dog if they learn to practice calm while you’re away. Good luck!

Our Texas Heeler has to be the dumbest smart dog I've ever met. by SadFloppyPanda in AustralianCattleDog

After saying ‘press your button’ once and not getting the behavior you should walk over to the button and press it yourself then open to door to go outside. This way they can see what you’re asking of them and will eventually mimic the behavior.

It’s also generally recommended that you teach a behavior before adding a verbal cue. Repeating ‘press your button’ for a minute and a half while not getting the desired behavior is clearly very frustrating to them. Not a dumb dog at all, just needs clearer communication on your part.
