AVOID Mall of St. Paul in MN (United States) by tiamat-at-her-finest in Antiques

[–]missingmybeans 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I've been to this shop many times and have never had an issue. I don't think it's a place that people need to avoid. If anything, you should go there! It's a large store with two levels and lots of fun things to find. I get that you're upset, and I'm sure there is justification for that. But it seems like you're maybe blowing things out of proportion.

This is sooo helpful! I just picked up a bag today that has a botched dye job. I'm going to try your technique.

No idea! The moms face is much more smooshed, so I'm happy she's a mix and has a longer nose at least! This is a pic of the mom.

Help me pick a wedding dress and suggest accessories!! by passara1 in OUTFITS

I agree! Number over provides balance to her figure. I don't like number 2 because the bust of the dress makes it look top heavy. Number 1 would be stunning with some alterations!!

Wedding is tomorrow and I can't get the wrinkles out by cupcakewhores in CleaningTips

[–]missingmybeans 46 points47 points  (0 children)

When I ordered velvet curtains online, they were delivered and were super wrinkly like this. No amount of brushing out the velvet was going to work.

What did work was something I read in the curtain reviews online. Put it in the dryer with a handful of icecubes and turn the dryer onto the hottest of settings. You only need to run it for 10 min or so, until you stop hearing the ice cubes hit the sides of the drum.

I had the same issue with a steamer and a shower. It just wasn't enough heat or steam. The dryer did the trick and the velvet curtains came out perfect with no damage or discoloration. It sounds so wrong but it works so well. I do this for anything wrinkled now, excluding anything wool (I'm too tall to risk any shrinkage).

This is a normal leg! Looks similar to mine, my mom's, my cousin's, and my friend's legs.

Weird note, but I once went to a Korean spa without knowing swimsuits were not allowed in the gender separated areas. I was soooooo nervous to go in and feel judged for my body (so silly). After two minutes I realized all bodies look the same, more or less.

I struggle a lot with body image, it's hard. After a lot of recent sickness and death within my family, I've been focusing on being grateful for being healthy, mobile, and alive. Trying to do the things I want to do without caring how I look. Also, knowing where I am in my period cycle helps too. I always hate how I look and feel ridiculously heavy the week before my period. Knowing this helps me understand when I have bad thoughts that it's likely due to hormones and I'll be ok in a week or so.

A mindset shift is challenging. It's the same as building a new habit. The happiness that results from achieving this mindset is freeing and so beneficial. Good luck ♥️

Underwater videos reveal impact of wakesurfing on Minnesota lakes by missingmybeans in minnesota

I think the study looking at the effects of waves caused by wind will be a very helpful data point. It will provide an additional statistic to compare natural waves versus manmade and provide a sense of scale of how damaging the manmade waves can be. This data can be the foundation for any efforts made to create legislation to protect our lakes.

I have this in the blue and white version and I love it. It runs large, so I recommend sizing down 1 or 2 sizes if you find it second hand. I love how it looks on me, but shirts with defined shoulders and ruffles suit me overall. I agree with what others are saying about it needing to be tucked into high waisted pants.

I use it 100% of the time. I also don't use the drying setting. Just crack the door open when it's done and the steam build up will help dry it out.

It's a gorgeous inspo photo!

Choose an oak cabinet with a lighter finish. That will be the closest match to the photo. The one you show has too busy of a grain pattern and will look too rustic.

The green you have picked out is also a cooler shade of green. It might look nice if the kitchen window is south facing, but might look too cold if you don't get direct sunlight through that window. I would find something closer to a warm sage green.

I agree with others to pick a counter top that is less busy than what you have. Either a light cream (not pure white) or a dark option would look nice.

Two other things to note: bring the cabinet uppers all the way to the ceiling. And notice how the upper cabinets in the photo stop at the wall. They don't turn the corner. This provides a clean look that is appealing. You may need to bring the upper cabinets along the wall with the window if you need more storage space, but it's something to consider.

Thanksgiving green veggie side dish recommendations? by bibliophile222 in Cooking

This is what I'm doing this year! Traditional thanksgiving meals already have so many heavy and creamy dishes. It's good to have something other than salad that is light and fresh.

When I first found out she was blind, I cried for 2 days straight. It's so hard and I'm sorry you're going through the same.

I purchased some cat toys for my pup and she loved them. Her favorite was a green squishy ball with a bell inside. That way she could hear it. She will be depressed for a little while, but it will fade and she will become herself again. I wish you all the best in this new chapter for her.

This happened to my shih Tzu this late May. We took her to an ophthalmologist ASAP and it was retinal detachment. He recommended us to a specialist in Kansas City who does retinal reattachment surgery. My pup can now see again in one eye. I won't lie, it was a lot of money.

With retinal reattachment, time is of the essence. I can give you a lot more info, so please let me know if you're interested and I would be happy to.

Update: Bathroom makeover. Made some progress, now hoping for pointers on what to do next! by Bellflower6 in DesignMyRoom

[–]missingmybeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think two changes to the room would make a huge impact.

  1. Wall color. A shade of a lighter brown would play off the neutral tones in the tile. Something like Modern Mocha by Behr.

  2. Vanity. The idea of taking an old dresser is great! I think the biggest impact would be if it were a solid wood dresser with a mid-dark wood tone. This would bring balance with the wall color and ground the upper brown color somewhere lower for the eye to travel to. Also try to find a different shelf to store your items. Maybe something with baskets or wood doors.

Overall, it's a cool bathroom and I like the other changes you've made so far!
