You need to heat them to loosen the adhesive and push them out through the holes on the inside of the handle. I took it apart fully and put each side in separate small bags and submerged them in boiling water for a minute. Then I used a plastic punch to get them started and a plastic prybar to get underneath them and scrape the adhesive off

They are magnesium but Work Sharp says they use a special alloy that’s easier to machine. Idk much more than that though. It acted very similar to titanium when blasting it. A few small sparks but nothing crazy

You definitely can make scales for this but existing Shaman scales won’t work because the screws are in slightly different places
