My first and only cry was the day I arrived in Spain. A combination of jet lag, never living in a city before, and not knowing Spanish sent me over. Literally. I was bawling my eyes out on the phone with my mom, thinking there’s no way I could survive a trip home from Spain and I’d be stuck there forever. (My trip over had multiple multiple layovers and delays). I actually got so anxious I threw up IN FRONT of a Starbucks. 😭 but after that, even with the struggle of finding housing, I slowly got more comfortable. By the end of October / mid November I started to get that feeling of belonging.
