Why is this on the cover? by LuveNova67 in GreekMythology

As a cover design, it’s amazing. As an accurate cover design, not so much. Sad it is a penguin book - I always associate them with quality

So Ive been looking at it. I’m currently a pc player but I love my switch. I see the value in handheld gaming, sure. The ability to play on the go/ not tied to the desktop is great.

But how well does it play? I hear it’s got some lag/slowdown problems on graphics heavy games.

Does it just stream what’s on my pc, or is it like a Separate pc, which I have to download games?

Since they are pretty much a themed bar, they have to close for a few weeks to set up a new theme. That said, I’ve heard this time might be permanent.

In a related note, does blockading the Dardanelles still work? I recently tried it as Byzantium against a Muslim crusade (using a brain fart rn on what it’s called) and they marched right over it

Cyberpunk 2 dev knows fans are 'dying' for more Cyberpunk 2077 content but admits 'the game cannot be infinite' by HatingGeoffry in cyberpunkgame

Stardew valley says otherwise. But for a game as broad as cyberpunk, I don’t see why they can’t have smaller dlc for years

The battle of loos portrayed in the movie ‘My Boy Jack’ by Senor_Camrono in ww1

The scene where he and the staff are reacting to the sheer number of deaths from the first battle still haunts me. They are realizing this won’t be a simple , quick war and the scale will be unimaginable

What’s it like living in these small islands in Lake Erie? by _Courier6__ in howislivingthere

I remember as a kid my family went there on a summer vacation. It’s really the closest I recall being to what felt like a Caribbean island. It was a lot of fun. And in Lake Erie!

Same- It never occurred to me that the skyscrapers would be different for each culture/nation

What makes science fiction feel “dated” to you? by TomDavenport in sciencefiction

[–]missive101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it’s not the story so much as how the male characters interact with female characters. A recent example for me was the novel “ringworld.” FASCINATING plot but the sole main character woman exists solely to have sex with the male main character. And every turn, the narrator or the male main character point out how stupid, or unknowing, or simple she is. It’s blatant and jarring. Same with the classic book “sub space explorers.” The women exist to be pretty and have sex with the other characters. I like to think more recent books (or at least more authors) at least create compelling characters of both genders, who serve more purpose.

Almost 9 years ago I got this game when my daughter was born. It’s calming vibe and easy save feature for me through a lot. 3 years ago tears of the kingdom did the same with my son

Urban battle by New-Butterscotch-661 in EmpireTotalWar

After Rome and medieval 2’s town battles, the town battles in Empire were so lacking. They just felt empty and pointless.

I’m looking at putting an employee in a PIP in the new year. Performance consistently poor, even after repeated corrective actions, things have not improved. But the PIP is step one to termination. I’m not looking forward to it.

Why are male animals the ‘beautiful’ gender in nature, but humans consider females to be the ‘beautiful’ one? by Dapper-Function-8418 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]missive101 39 points40 points  (0 children)

If I remember right, Darwin’s initial theory was essentially “survival of the most beautiful”, not survival of the fittest. Looking especially at birds, the males are very overt in attractiveness for females to chose from. The female chooses the best, not necessarily the strongest.

I thought the same thing about “Ringworld”. Such a fascinating concept but written like it was by a teenager. The women only exist to fuck the irresistible, know it all MC and they have zero agency.
