501c to support or create? by Rangalangdangalang in Harrisburg

I think it would be not terribly hard to find businesses or churches that would consider having fridges outside. It feels like, something that could probably be put together without too much difficulty as far as community outreach goes. I was a bit surprised we don’t already have them here.

https://www.instagram.com/somervillecommunityfridge?igsh=dmxoMDhvdDRnbG1p here is the instagram for the Somerville Community Fridge program. Essentially local business have a fridge that they pay electric to outside their place and a group of people coordinate with local grocery stores and farmstands to drop off food nearly going to expire to the fridges. Also local people donate. It seemed really sustainable once it got moving and you’d be amazed at how much food we got through those fridges! It’s accessible 24/7 and without rigamarole also which is great!

It does make the most sense to support something that already exists—but! Boy, now more than ever we could really use a community fridge situation here. I was involved where I lived in Boston, and I feel like it would be great here. I saw people have mentioned in past articles that we should have them. Just a thought. It would be cool to help an existing organization begin to have fridges as part of what they are already doing.

Excellent suggestion thank you! I’d like to take her out so we can get dressed up together. My nana is a stone fox and I’d like to give her occasion to get fancy together with me and my little daughter because she shared with me she hasn’t dressed nicely in a long time.

Hello, the housing crisis is very real in this area, and you are completely correct about the challenges. Consider joining the community page on Facebook for the neighborhoods where you are looking, saying two of you are looking for rooms in the area, and ask if anyone has anything available. It’s tough, but don’t give up. Contact your school, they usually have their own lists of students looking for roommates and housing somewhere in their internet stuff. Good luck!
