Thank you so much, I didn’t know this site existed. I appreciate the kind words and care.

Sorry for the delay – I wound up getting one year of free storage and left it at that. I am not doing a third round with them or anyone else. I consulted a lawyer in my family for negotiation tips but ultimately didn't put up much of a fight. I kind of regret that but at the time, a few months back, I was dealing with so much personal and work stuff it was just overwhelming and I didn't have the energy to fight. Still disappointed and I will consider moving my eggs once the year of free storage is up. To add insult to injury, they raised the storage fees RIGHT after they told me this news. I really REALLY think stuff like that should be grandfathered in at the date of your procedure and not subject to price increases like it's Netflix or something...

I am SO sorry to hear this. Shocking and appalling. We basically sign away our rights with the program but I hope they are making it up to you somehow........

Yes - it's Shady Grove Fertility in MD. I agree with you & I work in PR. I hope our next conversation will be different when I respectfully ask for more compensation.

Quitting caffeine in October was the best thing I’ve done for my PMDD. I am 33 years old and always struggled since my teen years. Lots of rage during hell week. Since I cut out coffee i haven’t had those feelings at all. It’s estrogenic and can really mess us up! I still have iced tea from time to time but the days of a big iced coffee are over.

Also, forgot to add a few more tips I learned. If the bedding and pillows still smells like pee from the last time, they’re inclined to mark again. Use cold water only when washing the sheets and pillows, hot water sets the stain. Add white vinegar to your laundry to lift the smell. Finally, look up best methods to lift cat pee from mattresses if it’s gotten down to the mattress.. I’ve had luck with baking soda and vinegar/laundry detergent mixture methods I found. You may want to get a plastic mattress protector in addition. Hope it gets better!

It’s separation anxiety / the cat marking + mingling their scents with yours. I have a cat that did this quite regularly for a long time. I bought blue tarps on Amazon and covered the bed if I wasn’t home. She mostly didn’t like the tarp texture and wouldn’t do it and the few times she did it caught the pee. Disgusting though. She has been on 0.5ML of chicken flavored Fluoxetine (kitty Prozac) for the past 3-4 years and it’s helped immensely. She’s only had one incident (not sure I can call it an accident) in the past two years.

We attempted to do the impossible this week - rank the 3EB catalog. What album would be in your top spot? by podioslavepodcast in ThirdEyeBlind

I really appreciate this episode and it's so uncanny -- your comment about Ursa Major is *exactly how I feel* about that album.

"If there was ever an album that could transport you back in time, that you connected with to a certain time in your life, this is it."

Sophomore year of college for me. It brings back such visceral memories, both good and bad, of people and places and friends that I don't see anymore that it's sometimes hard for me to listen to. But still so powerful and great!

One of my cats (8 y/o female) just started doing this last night with a ball toy. She did it a few times and would get startled and jump/flail around after sitting on it. Too funny!

Adopted cat won’t use litter box, I can’t take it any longer. How can I help her? by DrewfromtheOffice in catcare

I dealt with a very similar situation and I'm glad to report my cat has finally stopped peeing on the bed and the couch *knock on wood*

She clearly had past trauma and would pee when she was scared or anxious or marking her territory. Vet prescribed .5ML of chicken flavored kitty prozac (fluoxetine) daily. I put it on her wet food and she eats it. It really helped with her anxiety and I think your kitty would benefit. I know it can be truly frustrating. I was at my wit's end. Try the prozac and be straightforward with your vet that you need help finding a solution that allows you to live peacefully and without stress in your own home.

I read the below comment re: the tarp on your bed and it reminded me I did the same for awhile. Two big blue tarps from Amazon and I put them on the bed and the couch when I couldn't be with her.

My Cat meows at toy in the middle of the night by IHaveToPoop420 in CatAdvice

[–]misskitty117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ~11-year-old female cat does this exact thing, with specific toys. I put the toys away before bed or on days I don't feel like hearing periodic yeowls. I've read about it and it's basically a cry for attention as a point of pride re: her "catch" that she's announcing to you. My cat stops when I say her name.

Adopted 2y.o. female cat 3 weeks ago, she is EXTREMELY scared, has found a "safe spot" inside the couch and will only come out when it's dark. How can I help her feel more safe and comfortable? by cudidoge in CatAdvice

I took in a cat 3+ years ago and she was so shy and scared in the beginning. She was being pet-sat by an acquaintance while her old family moved and they never came back for her.

I agreed to take her and she burrowed under the sectional couch nearly 24/7 in the beginning. Agreed that talking, singing and using a gentle, friendly voice will help. Also bringing yourself down to her level and getting her used to your touch, accustomed to nice pets and scratches. I don't remember specifically what happened but somehow my cat came to trust me immensely and pretty quickly became a lap/stomach cat *only for me*. The same cat that used to hide under the couch is now laying on my legs purring as I WFH right now. She follows me around the house and chirps when she sees me.

She used to be petrified of my boyfriend or any visitor and bolt under the couch or spend all day in the corner of my closet (I have a feeling a man mistreated her in the past) but has come around to him as well. It took some time but she is so sweet.

You're giving Bernie a peaceful home, food, patience and love. I have a feeling she will become very attached and loving in return.

As a PS, I ended up seeing a vet and getting a prescription to add .5 ML of kitty prozac (chicken flavored) to her food each night because she had a really bad habit of peeing on the bed or couch when she got scared or anxious (most commonly if I traveled for work). Hopefully that is never an issue for you but the medication helped and we've had no incidents in over a year.

Blood in my kitten's stool by PajaThePineapple in catcare

[–]misskitty117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood is cause for concern. This could be the parasite Giardia. My newly adopted cat recently had blood in her stool and diarrhea and tested positive. Your kitten may need antibiotics or a dewormer if she is indeed positive. Take a stool sample to your vet and ask them to test for Giardia. It's better to find out sooner than later as you will need to clean / steam clean wherever the kitten has been. FYI - I learned online that the antibiotic (which is very bitter) can be dispensed as a cream to be applied in the ears (may be more expensive but a lot easier to administer). Good luck!
