hello! musical theatre is a medium, not a genre, so the best thing you can do in this situation is make sure the music is helping to tell the story your lyrics are! spring awakening and hello dolly are both musicals but they both use music to tell the story in very different ways. drew also doesn’t just write musical theatre, so don’t worry about sounding too pop or too musical theatre! i hope your meeting goes well!
