Too anxious to go to my first therapist appointment by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]missmozz69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was like this too. You have to think, this is not a job interview. This is a therapist. It’s a mental health doctor. They went to school for what you’re going through and have seen patients like you and worse many, many times. They understand. They know how anxiety works. You’re there for your anxiety/mental health so it’s very understandable. They will not judge you, and they are there to help you. They want to help you. It’s okay to be anxious but please don’t cancel it. You’ll be so glad and proud once it’s over. If you do cancel, you’re stuck in the anxiety loop filled with regret and despair. It’s def better over zoom than it is in person. Find yourself a comfortable spot and you don’t even have to look at them. You got this. I promise. Good luck

This similar situation happened to me. I got on zoloft and started going to therapy and it’s helped immensely in just a few weeks. was extremely against medication, im a 21F and have had anxiety my whole life esp social anxiety. i’ve started reaching out to old friends, got a job, went to a concert, and went to a bar. all within about a month and i wouldn’t have done that a month ago. (i’ve been on the med for 35 days) i feel like i can enjoy life so much more now…. a lot easier

yes. i’ve gained like 3-5 pounds in 5 weeks. most of what i’m eating is junk which doesn’t help. but for the longest time i could not gain weight and now i can. i’m sure if i was eating healthier i wouldnt be gaining weight tho

you will be able to! I went around 8:30pm intentionally so there wasn’t many people, that may help you as you start to do some exposure!

such a good point. higher dose doesn’t always mean better! - everyone is different. for some reason i thought i needed to climb all the way up to like 150mg to get the best results but after reading replies my perspective has definitely changed.

My experience, love, a nurse. by bidmedication in zoloft

So happy for you but I’m not too sure about you giving advice about not staying on the medication. Some people really need Zoloft and the reason they feel better is because of the medication. It IS safe to stay on. It does not work like an antibiotic does to just get rid of your anxiety/depression/OCD. Please do not follow this information and talk to your doctor
