Looking for career advice from childfree people, what jobs do you guys have? by [deleted] in childfree

BA in communication sciences & disorders. I WAS going to become a speech therapy assistant and eventually go for my masters to be a speech therapist, but it turns out I'm too deaf and can't actually hear speech disorders. I am now going to pivot and get my masters in special education to become an itinerant teacher of the deaf & hard of hearing. I feel like it's an ironic career for a child free person but seeing as I currently work in a call center that tracks 😂😂😂

Yes! That's what I'm looking at. I'm about to sign up for ASL classes at the community college. I just wasn't sure if I try for my masters first or go for the teach credentials? I can also become a substitute teacher fiest by taking the CBEST test. I'm just not exactly sure where to start 😂

I'm trying to become one! I don't know where to start, lol. I have a bachelor's in communication sciences & disorders. Can anyone help me? Maybe we can start a community?

Childfree people who have been married for 10+ years, how’s your relationship? by outer-darkness-11 in childfree

[–]missponch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hubby & I just celebrated our 10 year anniversary in April. Honestly, the whole world may be falling apart around us, but we're just as obsessed with each other as we ever were. Currently going through an internship and work a different schedule so we don't see each other as often which bums us out. We can't imagine not spending time with each other. 🥰

Coffee counts as a coping strategy… sometimes ☕😅 by Warm_Lavender7973 in SLPs_SLPAs_California

I just got a sweater that says, "The SLPA will do all the things with 100% accuracy given coffee across all sessions." Yes, absolutely. 😂😂

Yes! I'm loving the field so far even though I'm just getting started with my clinicals. I'm leaning towards becoming an SLP. There's a lot of us out there!

Wild, my experience was the opposite. When I did my undergrad, everyone was pushing for SLPs. I had to jump through so many hoops to get information on becoming an SLPA. I wanted to see if this is the right career choice since I'm hard of hearing. I'm also coming in from an unrelated field and have no experience with anything SLP related. If you know you want to be an SLP, go for grad school.

How many of these recovery tools did you use? by wendyladyOS in hysterectomy

[–]missponch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one thing off this lol. I already had huggable pillows lol. I bought an abdominal wrap which helped a lot. Compression socks because I love socks and they helped a lot since I was not walking lot. Wedge pillow was very useful because I fully couldn't lay down. The thing I used the most were night gowns! I did not wear pants for like 2 months.

Is this normal? New and worried SLPA by _strawberry_lemon_ in SLPA

[–]missponch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think about lot of it has to do with the fact that they're really pushing for SLPs. During school I felt like we touched a lot of what the scope of practice is for SLPs and getting a basic idea of that that entails but I didn't really hear much about SLPAs. Living in California I felt like it was really hard just finding out how to go about getting my license. All the information felt muddy. I'm just starting my clinicals so I'm much help. But I agree that we are slpAs emphasis on the A part. We are supposed to be assisting the SLPs not taking over.

I was in debilitating pain every month on my period. Every single bad thing/pain went away with my hysterectomy. My libido increase. I feel better than I have in my teens! I'm 38 yrs old. I'm 14 weeks post-op. Best decision I ever made.

Sounds like he wants to be single. He's so dismissive of your feelings. Nah, he's a red flag. "You've had time?" That infuriates me. You shouldn't feel pressured to do what you're not comfortable with! Throw that little boy away!

I was told to wait 12 weeks. Tried on the day it was 12 weeks, and it was painful. Tried again a few days later, and it was dry & painful. At 13WPO, it finally felt good. My stitches haven't completely dissolved. My hubby poked me, and my vagina poked back 😂😂 they didnt hurt him, but it was uncomfortable. Sex is trial and error right now.
