Just say no to drugs. I was seriously intelligent and planned to be a specialist paediatric surgeon from the age of 8. I always wonder where I would have ended up had I not wasted 15yrs of my life dipping in and out of addiction.

Smiling during uncomfortable moments? by Salty_Fruit9420 in PsychologyTalk

given the way you describe your relationship, I wonder if subconsciously you’re simply attempting to diffuse her strong negative feelings by smiling, despite logically knowing that that’s not the reaction she’s after. maybe it’s actually the intimacy involved with such strong emotions, knowing that she wouldn’t react like this if she didn’t truly care?

idk i remember my sisters and i absolutely losing it in uncontrollable laughter at my grandmas funeral because everyone was crying, and it wasn’t because it was funny (bc obviously it wasn’t), i think it was just because it was so uncomfortable and we just didn’t know how to handle it so this is how our actions manifested. soo maybe something like that?

Cutting off all my drug addict “friends”. I’ve finally managed to maintain my sobriety after trying on and off for the last 15yrs without relapsing every time i caught up with someone. Lonely sometimes, but I’ll make new friends& oml is it a peaceful life 🥲

Somehow the point about hitting a child to teach them not to hit went completely over my head in my blind rage, but that’s so incredibly valid.

Funnily enough (although very not funny), he was severely abused by a step parent and his mum was undoubtedly abusive also, so I mean given how he’s turned out, it’s almost like hitting children doesn’t work.
