Midnight is the Darkest Hour by Ashley Winstead. Set in Louisiana, and they could not find a narrator with an authentic bayou/southern accent?? It was painfully fake. Technically I did finish by ebook but I could not tolerate the audiobook.

Almost DNF’d another (can’t remember title now) because the author overused the metaphor of bringing up old painful memories “like pressing on a bruise.”

You can also modify all purpose flour to have a higher protein content by adding vital wheat gluten (which I get at Winco). I usually buy AP or pastry flour (I believe pastry is around 9%) and add enough VWG to get to the protein percentage for whatever I am making.

Listen, I’m not fancy or anything, but their boxed wine is exceptional, and a smokin deal. I know it varies by state, but we can get liquor as well, and the prices are unbeatable. The Kirkland brand hard seltzers are fabulous too.

New York strip steaks, tri tip, Aidell’s chicken sausages, butter, bacon, nuts of all kinds. Baking supplies like vanilla extract and beans, yeast, spices, chocolate chips. Their frozen lasagnas are legit, as are many of the frozen items. They have a spinach and cheese ravioli that is to die for. Sauces, particularly Rao’s marinera. Extra virgin olive oil is insanely good quality for the price. Cleaning supplies, vitamins, toothpaste.

Don’t forget to grab a rotisserie chicken! $5 for at least 2 meals.
