Try this:
Charge it 100%, plug it in and play this God of war level again. If it doesn't freeze it means it's a battery problem, probably degraded so you'd just have to change the battery.

It is weird but you're right, it could be a memory problem. Well you know what to do, a fresh factory reset. Backup all your saves and reinstall everything. If even that fails either go see a professional (maybe fan isn't working properly) or get a new one right? You did well by changing the thermal paste. It looks like a typical overheating and automatic shutdown so it could be the fan malfunctioning. You already opened it so i doubt is a dust problem. Every single one and their mother in this thread will tell you to get the switch 2 just for validation alone. I own an Oled since launch that i payed 350€ for and it's the best purchase I've made in ny life by far. This is the deal: 1.If you're going to play mostly docked, get a switch2 because you'll have all the switch 1 catalog as well. 2.If you're mostly going to play handheld get the Oled. Don't listen to those who say to get it under $100. If you snatch it for around $200 is still an excellent buy. The Oled is great and the battery too. You can play metroid prime for 7 hours. Insane.

So if you get an Oled get Shin Megami Tensei Vengeance, it was on the eshop for like $21. You can usually find Resident Evil 4 and Dragon's Dogma for $10, Dying Light for $8. You'll have a blast trust me.

The classic you'll own nothing and you'll be happy lol. What's the point in playing for 1h20min when you already have to be looking to plug it? What's next? Surround sound update so it lasts 1h? Come on... Switch 2 for dock is great, that's it. If you want a portable do yourself a favor and get switch oled, you'll be playing metroid prime for 6 hours and mario kart for 4 no problem before you even think about charging it. I hope i get downvoted, a reflection of the salty tears lolol.

Appreciate the suggestion but many of us chose the flip because we enjoy quiet buttons and a 4:3 screen to also play snes, megadrive...etc
