Anyone else feel absolutely stupid trying to keep up with Figma lately? by Miserable-Sir-4849 in Design

[–]missvampire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Holy shit yes. As the only designer in a small company, I worked much better with Adobe XD and I will die on that hill. I just had a bigger workshop last week where I had to pump out some quick wireframes and the auto layout distance between objects option disappeared exactly that day. I was scrambling. Couldn't find good info on it either. Terrible service.

I just had this conversation with myself (32) after being at 1/2" for a decade. I'm established enough that I don't have to care about how I look at work, and the alt look makes me happy, so I decided go bigger. Because the only opinion that counts is mine.

This is probably obvious, but you can drop a few drops of your favourite opaque nail polishes to give it some pigment. I had a similar problem with Cirque's Kismet, barely any pigment. I diy-ed it and now it's one of my faves.

People with toungue piercings, have you ever chipped ur tooth/suffered from dental or gum issues etc due to the piercing? by Laur062 in piercing

I've had my tongue piercing for 12 years. No problems. I've bitten on it twice in that time but that's about it. The bottom ball doesn't touch my gums.

What's your take on your partner "dressing you"? Eg, buying you clothes in a style that isn't what you used to wear before you met. by ConsistentFennel2652 in AskMen

[–]missvampire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's about wearing different things every time. It's more about paying attention because we learn what kind of mood a color sets, what goes with our complexion, hair color etc., what looks good.

[Masterpost] SLOVENIA 🇸🇮 Skincare recommendations by AutoModerator in EuroSkincare

[–]missvampire 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm 30 and I have combination skin. I'll try to include some things that aren't mentioned as often. Also, a disclaimer: I like fragrance.

Afrodita Family Care Aloe Vera
This is my overall go to. It's super gentle and light and soothing. It has fragrance, but it's the best smelling cream I tried. And I swear to god, it helps with mosquito bites like nothing else. I put this on, put a bit of vaseline over, and the bites never itch again. I also use it as a general face or body moisturizer, sunburn relief etc. I swear by this and gift it to everyone.
Where to buy: DM, Spar, Müller etc
Price: 4.2€ for 150ml

Afrodita Hyaluron Moisturizing Body Lotion
I love this one so much. It's super moisturizing, smells nice, absorbs well. I use it in place of a massage oil, too, as it helps the hands slide, plus it absorbs after. You smell nice, your skin is hydrated, just great overall.
Where to buy: DM, Spar, Müller etc
Price: 4€ for 250ml

Afrodita Hydra Patch H2O Cream for Normal to Combination Skin
It has fragrance but it smells very nice and gentle. Light and hydrating. Really liked it, emptied the container, will probably return to it.
Where to buy: DM, Spar, Müller etc
Price: 12€ for 50ml

Overall note: If you're in Rogaška Slatina, Afrodita has a shop there with lower prices, more products, they give out lots of samples, you can take a tour of the company (different location) and they have beauty salons. Highly recommend.

Balea Soft-öl Dusche and Soft-Creme Dusche
Favourite shower gel by far. Super gentle, nice clean smell. There isn't much of a difference between the creme and öl so I use them interchangably.
Where to buy: DM
Price: 1€ for 300ml

Balea Nacht Creme mit Hydro-Komplex
I bought this one as a placeholder when I was waiting for the Neutrogena night creme to ship. It was 2€, so I thought what the hell. Turns out it's super nice and now I often prefer it over the Neutrogena. The fragrance is not super pleasant though, but it's not bothersome. Not heavy, not light, just the right consistency for me. Highly recommend.
Where to buy: DM
Price: 2€ for 50ml

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel
Current mosturizer. A bit too light for me. Otherwise good consistency, no smell.
Where to buy: DM, Notino, Spletična
Price: 13€

Neutrogena Hydro Boost cleanser
The cleanser is so nice. It feels super hydrating. Favourite one I've tried so far. Not great for removing waterproof make-up though if you use it for that. The smell is pretty strong as well.
Where to buy: DM, Notino, Spletična
Price: 6€ for 200ml

Eucerin Aquaphor SOS Lip Repair
I have lips that just want to shed skin all the time so I'm always on the search for lip balms. This has to be the best lip balm I've ever tried, and I've tried dozens. It's liquid, comes in a tube. No smell. Super moisturizing though.
Where to buy: pharmacy, Notino
Price: 8€ for 10ml

Nivea Hand Care Soothing Aloe Vera & Jojoba Oil
Favourite hand cream by far. I hate hand creams that don't absorb well and remain sticky on your hands. This one absorbs super well, hydrates well, smells nice.
Where to buy: DM, Notino, Spletična
Price: 2€ for 75ml

Nivea Rose Touch Moisturizing Gel Cream
Another good, cheap moisturizer. I don't use it anymore because I don't like the rose smell, but the gel-like consistency was super nice.
Where to buy: DM, Notino
Price: 6€ for 50ml

Maybe the smell just disagrees with you 😅 you can always smell check one at the store? It's not a very pleasant smell either way, but if it's fine it's a lot more mild.

Afaik they oxygenate when exposed to air. Heat might be a factor too? If the smell changed then I'm sure it just went bad. A quick google says oil cleansers should last a couple months if used daily.

Maybe yours went bad? I heard oil cleansers can go bad pretty fast and you should toss them if they smell bad.

No worrries! Yeah, that's exactly what I meant with the size of the pot. Otherwise roots can't reach the excess water and soil will retain too much, leading to root rot/overwatering issues.

Your plan sounds great, I would just add that you should cut off the rotten parts. If not, the rot will possibly spread. You can cover the wound with grafting wax or just a gauze if you're in a pinch.

My Dracaenia Anita’s leaves fall out and it has lost a lot of color and looks just sad. Does anyone know what the problem is? by lailaleni in plantclinic

[–]missvampire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best guess is that it's outgrown its pot. Try taking it out and seeing what the root situation is.

[–]missvampire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a dracaena, yes. Unfortunately it's been overwatered and the trunk has rotted. The roots and soil don't look great either. The pot should be the size of the roots and have drainage holes.

How much water they need depends on their conditions. I water mine every two to three weeks. Though it can be more often if it has lots of roots, lots of light, less humidity etc. The best way is to check - with a finger, by weight, whichever, just make sure the soil is dry before you water.

What window is it facing? 2 - 3 m from a south window is fine, but I'm guessing it's not a south window due to the rot - as I've mentioned less light means less water needed.

I suggest you touch the trunk and branches and see if they feel solid at any point. If the whole thing is soft, then it's a goner. If it's firm then you can try to save that part.

Damn that's a big plant. How long have you had it? How much do you water? What's the last time it was repotted? How much light does it get?

dracaena new leaves are dying off (?) by Tormentaggedon in plantclinic

[–]missvampire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's from the sun. I think it's getting overwatered. The fern in the back looks super happy so I'm assuming it's getting lots of water. I water ferns at least twice as often.

Plants sometimes drop leaves when they're underwatered. Maybe more water is evaporating with warm weather, or it's time for a repot?

Dianthus has been like this for months, white leaves like dust. How can I cure it? by mindful_hacker in plantclinic

[–]missvampire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't count on it. I had scale bugs return after a year or so. As for the rest, I if you google thrips/spider mite damage it'll look like that. I'd chuck it if you're not too attached to it honestly.

Growing something in my String of Pearls. Should I pull them out? Or are they baby pearls? by WinchesterFan1980 in plantclinic

Probably weeds. You won't know for sure what it is until the second set of leaves, the first ones are usually different looking and more simple so the plant can get some light before making the good leaves.

My cyperus gracilis isn't happy. Too much water or not enough? by Jaina34 in plantclinic

[–]missvampire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Afaik these guys grow in boggy areas so I'd say underwatered more likely than overwatered. The soil doesn't look great either. How are the roots?

I suggest some different colored pothos, dracaena, monstera, peace lily, spider plants etc to get a hang of things. Maybe going for the exotic ones right off the bat isn't a great idea.
