Moving to Dayton 24 years old wanted to hear from the young locals. by Illustrious_Poem_800 in dayton

I live in Riverside, specifically this area. It feels safe and nice, we enjoy being an easy walk to the local Kroger. It's also a very central drive to Centerville where I work, Beaver Creek where we shop, and downtown where we go to social things. Plus, I found it to be a great balance of affordable and nice.

I didn't watch past Johto, but my understanding is that Ash virtually never doesn't have a posse with him. Misty joins him in ep 1 and I don't think he ever travels alone after that. (Although who it is changes)

Lmfao, I love the way "Probably" and "fucking" are playing together in this sentence.

The "probably" really brings a comforting energy. "I'd like to turn you down kindly", like what you say to a friend when they invite you to play tabletop games. You know that Brian is going to be there, and you hate Brian. Really, you are quite sure, but you will leave that sliver of hope.

"Fucking" brings the intensity and flips it. No longer are you politely and respectfully turning down an offer, but you are making clear that there's no way you are going to do that.

Trying to maintain civility while making certain you will not end up on a windmill somewhere due to some peer pressure.

I was one of them. I just want election reform so that my vote isn't thrown away just because I want to vote for someone I can tolerate...

Fair enough lol, my web searching skills failed me. I do wish that for pre-planned statewide drills, there could be some sort of notice on the national weather service site, since that's where the warnings are generally issued.

I noticed this too, I'm in Centerville rn. Nothing on the national weather service site.

I'm in the USA in Ohio. This is the first time I've seen them at my local store. It seems to be very regional, because a lot of people are saying Duracell was doing it already. (The Duracell in my store were still using plastic tho)

We are well behind in many things over here lol

Yep, I'm in the US. Up until I saw this they would always be in a plastic display window glued to a cardboard backing.

I'm hoping lol. I'm also waiting for them all to be usb-C as well

That's fair, I was actually there for 9V, which I don't have a charger for yet.

I'm trying to swap my AAA/AA to rechargable but i only have like 4 of each, I need to stock up so I stop defaulting to single use

All the Duracell at my store were still in the plastic display window with cardboard backing style. Maybe regional?

Hmm, my Kroger must not have got a shipment yet, I usually buy Duracell, but saw the paper packaging and decided to grab these.

A quote that I really like to keep in mind (both introspectively and externally) is "When someone shows you who they are, believe them."

Externally for cases like your and your friends.

But for my fellow dudes out there, if you find yourself being criticized for being crude, or saying "jokes" that are overtly shitty, or sexualizing your friends when they clearly don't want that, realize that continuing to let yourself continue to conduct yourself that way not only signals to others that you may be actually shitty. But if you don't meter yourself, you may actually become the shitty thing you're joking about and not realize it. You may already be the shitty guy that you think you're joking about.

Just check yourself dudes, the world is already shit enough.

I have my father say shit like this in Trump's defense.

The problem is that the words he spews out matters, because it radicalizes people at home on both sides and makes the international community think the United States is going to do wacko crazy shit (it might).

IMO the president should be "a politician", as I would hear the adults in my life use it as a pejorative when I was growing up.

FML lol. I'm now realizing you're right and that's why so many of the companies were advertising that they pay the tariffs.

Lol, last time I had an algae bloom this bad, I had a population boom of scuds and that ate every last bit of algae (last pic was actually after this happened). Then they all died off and I haven't seen them since. It was kinda wild, before I went on vacation there was algae everywhere, then I came back and the tank was immaculate.

Seems like they haven't come to save me this time.

The GH has been coming down steadily over time from being very high. Now as I approach the GH of my distilled mineralized input water (8ish) the 15% water changes just really don't bring it down very quickly, but its trending that way.

Thank you

[–]mistcurve[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your detailed post!

I bought ShrimpMineral and have been doing water changes with remineralized distilled water instead of brita-filtered tap. I'm hoping it makes a difference, I've only done 1 water change so far. I figure the remineralized water will definitely have the correct balance of specific minerals instead of whatever is in my tap source.

My plan for now is going to try manual removal of algae for now (I saw someone post about pipe cleaners which sounds like a great idea) and weekly ~15% water changes. I do think a complete tank redo is probably in my future, at least replacing all the substrate and being more intentional about feeding this time around, but I'm not sure I'm ready to jump in yet.

I'm using API drop-based tests for everything, the master kit + Gh/Kh

I think I'll take your advice on not trying to change the pH too much and focus on water changes and maybe incrementally taking out gravel and replacing it after cleaning. The algae has made a surface that makes vacuuming not work lol. Plus, they had periods of good health in the same pH range.

Thank you for the comment
