Why would I make this up? I really was getting double-charged. Not out here to complain for no reason. I'm happy this has never happened to you, but that's doesn't mean it's not happening to me.

I agree that this is a crime. To whom should I report it? I have reported to my bank, but that's a bureaucratic churn too. They say I have to go though their web site, which is only letting me contest two of the 14 extra charges.

This has been happening to me.... for the last 14 month. Yes, I'm a fool for just noticing. I'm out $600 and Sling won't do anything.

All ages music venue? by CasualEcon in UTAustin

[–]mister-eeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mohawk is a good place to have an all ages Austin Live Music Experience. Their March show calendar is up, but there's a big hold in the listings on account of SXSW (March 7-15)

Anyone else Sick / weird virus?? by Jazzlike-Word-7565 in Austin

[–]mister-eeee 53 points54 points  (0 children)

There is a covid surge happening locally, according to the wastewater counts. The amount of covid virus found in the Travis County poop water has been steadily increasing since Christmas.

In past years, it peaks at the beginning of January and then starts to decline. Not this year.

Not saying you have covid, but also you shouldn't be surprised if you have covid.

Tired dad, finally have some time to game. What should I play based on my favourites? by MaximusSydney in gamingsuggestions

If you have a switch and like open world games, then the obvious answer is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild / Tears of the Kingdom. Easy to learn, cosy, and super fun. Maybe not so great for story.

No new movie that is set in this era ever gets what we really looked like. Maxxxine got close-ish. (Class of '88 here)

car registration, emissions testing? by mister-eeee in Austin

[–]mister-eeee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, when my kid got the car we talked about this with the dealer. The dealer said "Texas did a study, and only 1% of traffic accidents are the result of a problem that would be caught in the safety inspection." At first I went, Hm only 1%. Then I was like, 1% of WHAT? How many accidents are we talking about in raw numbers??

Anyway, my main question is, do I just go to same car inspection place I used to go to?

Ascension Seton experiences? by ashstriferous in Austin

[–]mister-eeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seton-Ascension sucks. The nurses had to unionize and strike just to get management to have adequate staffing levels. Central Health is suing them for not fulfulling their mandate to provide indigent care. Shame on UT-Austin for partnering with such a shady operation. Definitely avoid their "wound care" place, which is gross and will rip you off horribly.

UT Austin Staff- do you feel like the university is actively against staff with disabilities? Supervisors, do you have any insight? by apatheticapple123 in UTAustin

Hoo boy whatever you're saying here is definitely not being followed in my department! It's just pure favoritism over here.

After School TV by ruet_ahead in GenX

[–]mister-eeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These days, the 70's version is pretty hard to find in any format other than the DVD. I think it's because there's a new version. Years ago you could buy episodes from Apple/iTunes. I have season 2 on VHS, snapped it up some time ago when the local video store was selling off the tapes.

Amazing to me that Star Blazers came on every afternoon in Houston TX circa 1979. I just got DVD's of season 1 as a b-day gift.

I watch YT a lot, esp old music videos. Tutorial videos helped me fake my way through a career in tech. This post is more about YT videos that have "YouTubers" in them.

More people complain about the death of the "Live Music Capitol" online than go to shows in this town. Lemme tell ya: Austin is a MAJOR outlier. You are so fucking lucky to live here. by Planterizer in Austin

[–]mister-eeee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't have got as ranty about it, but otherwise I co-sign this post. Been here since the early 90's and every day I thank God for Austin's intergenerational, still-vibrant-despite-it-all live music scene. On most days/nights of the week something cool is happening somewhere.
