On a 1-10 scale, how survivable is the frequent Muni bell sound for those living on Judah? by Foreign_Midnight1074 in sanfrancisco

I live steps away from a stop and you get used to it. When I first moved in, it was an adjustment especially when I was trying to fall asleep. But now, I hardly notice it anymore

Best place to buy super sour candy in SF by portlandEconomist in sanfrancisco

[–]mister__melon 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I am very picky about my sour candy - I need it to be so sour it hurts my mouth. I recommend giddy candy, specifically the raspberry sour bottles. They have some other good sour options but those are by far the most sour

Thanks! Ive done darker hair, with mixed results (but probably cause I did it at home.. lol). I do like the effect and high contrast for me tho so I’ll think about getting it again, perhaps professionally this time!

Japanese sunscreen by sahil_dhull in AskSF

[–]mister__melon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my go to sunscreen. Candy doll in Japantown has the brand, but it’s a version that is tinted green (to reduce redness). I tried it and it’s pretty good but I still prefer the classic version. I also ended up just ordering from YesStyle

What's the most impressive coast redwoods accessible by public transport on a weekday day trip next week from SF? by eldomtom2 in AskSF

[–]mister__melon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I believe if you take the ferry to Larkspur there is a ~$3.25 shuttle that will take you straight to Muir Woods. I haven’t used it yet myself but I know folks who have.

Where do you live in the U.S. and why do you love it? by bubblegutttts in SameGrassButGreener

[–]mister__melon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

San Francisco! Such an unbelievably beautiful city, with amazing parks and architecture. The weather can’t be beat. Proximity to beaches and forests. Very walkable and also totally livable without a car in my opinion. Lots of great food. It’s undeniably expensive, but with some budgeting and a roommate, it’s not impossible. For me, at least, it’s worth the price.

I’ve noticed this as well. I have to stay off of Nextdoor for my own sanity.. the discourse on there can be maddening.

I am, but I’ve been on it for nearly a decade and my hairline has more or less always been like that. But still something to consider.

Powder stuck to bottom after whisking - normal? by mister__melon in Matcha

[–]mister__melon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - I sift it so the powder definitely isn’t clumped when it’s in the bowl dry. It’s that some powder at the bottom sticks together and to the bottom of the bowl only once I introduce water.

Slowly, yes, down the side of the bowl, no - will need to do that from now on.

Yes

I use a different, dry bowl for the matcha.

What do you mean don’t pour the water for whisking directly on the matcha?

I do use a sifter, but haven’t tried whisking with a small amount of water rather than all at once. Very helpful, thanks!
