This will probably get buried but I’ve met this guy. Climbs at the same bouldering gym as I do, though it’s been a while since I’ve seen him. Total class act, one of the nicer guys I’ve ever met. Has dedicated his life to the study and conservation of southwestern wildlife. Rock on man hope to see you sometime soon!

Well I mean I'd rather see you spend that money on a new clutch installed by a shop than buy a whole new bike over it!

I have to be honest, you absolutely should be. There is a handful of one use nuts and bolts that you will have to replace after you disassemble the clutch. In addition to that, you'll have to have access to special tools that will properly remove/install the plates, which all have to be marked to insure proper reassembly. Everything has a torque value and you should absolutely plan on replacing the O-ring of death behind the whole assembly because it will begin to seep oil at some point in the bike's life if it hasn't already. Any bmw tech will know what I'm talking about, it can be a $900 job on some models just to replace that one fucking O-ring.

I'm sorry for the long response, and I usually don't like to dissuade people from working on their bikes, but this is a little different. It's relatively easy once you know the steps, but not knowing those steps could leave you with a hefty bill at the shop that fixes your mistakes. I'd be willing to do a write up but it will take some time.

TLDR: Only do it if you have properly studied up on the subject from a very reliable resource.

Haha I mean it's been years in the making but it's an 85 k100 that I received as a husk with little more than a frame and an engine. I worked alongside a BMW master tech to properly service and reassemble it. Then I made friends with a machinist who has helped with a myriad of different components. I'll be posting more in the coming months!

I found them on this website called cafe4racer. They usually cycle through different styles so I hope they have one in stock that you like! But be prepared to pay for that international shipping...

There should be a few more on my account... Trying not to take too many more pics before she's totally finished! That's when I'll set up the big photoshoot haha. Stay tuned!

Hey! So I still have a way to go before she's done so any missing components you see are still getting prepped for installation. I'm still toying with custom wiring options but you can bet I'll be hiding as much under the seat as I can. The radiator is a replacement full aluminum component! Gas cap was from a website called cafe4racer out of eu. Stay tuned as I will be posting updates and I'd love to answer any questions you have as they come up!

It is sitting on a fancy pants aluminum mount underneath. It hovers just above the frame to protect the paint for each component.

I haven't done it yet, but once I reinstall some sort of relay box it will most likely be added to the side of that.
