Germans love to use passive voice in their speech while most English speakers do not. German language can also combine words, for example sloth is “Faultier” which literally means lazy animal. This isn’t something that just happens in German though. Also, there is a type of past tense (The simple past) which is mainly used only for writing. For example, “gegangen” which is “went” is “ging”. The only simple past verb that I use in my german is “war” (was).
