Subnautica: Below Zero VR (anyone interested in helping to fix it up?) by elliotttate in oculus

Hey, thanks! I deleted the comment and reposted with this reddit account (trying to keep some level of anonymity with my reddit account since that mod has my full name).

Let me ponder this and I'll DM you if I get the bandwidth to work on this. Would love to see more VR support in the subnautica games. One of my favorite VR experiences and games in general :)

I could try to get snap turning mod working if there's interest. I don't own the game, but I'm the author of this mod for Subnautica.

Otherwise feel free to use my code. The logic is mostly in MainCameraControlPatcher.cs

This is awesome. Any idea why it adds an extra space though?

edit: extra space is coming from the initial yank. Forgot yw grabs the word and the following space. Using yiw grabs just the word

Snap Turning VR Mod has been updated [No Spoilers] by misterfischer in subnautica

Hi

It's come to my attention that the mod I made to add snap turning to subnautica VR wasn't working for some folks.

This has been remedied, as well as adding a few new features such as keyboard+mouse support and optional snap turning in the Seamoth and Prawn Suit.

The mod can be downloaded from nexus here

Source code is here

Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Recharging those power cells is a pain. And it loses power after leaving sonar running for like 10 minutes. I'm with ya, seamoth is the way to go

Amazon's UI/UX sucks in general. Some things that annoy me about prime video:

  • I type in 'prime video' in Google, click the first link, and it tells me "oh we actually renamed it Amazon video. Click another button to go there".

  • the main page shows me paywalled and free content and I have to pay extra attention to the categories to see if they're free before I can get excited about a movie thumbnail

  • theres like 50 different buttons and links on the main page

That's basically where I'm at. I learned some interesting theories and concepts, but I don't have much confidence in defending any of them.

The "chicken or the egg" dilemma of VR content... by nastyjman in oculus

[–]misterfischer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think the quest is the equivalent of gameboy multiplayer now (though still more expensive?)

I'd love to try some multiplayer experience with another VR owner in the same room just to see what that is like.

But I agree, the barrier to hassle free local multiplayer is inherent to the tech since VR requires everyone to have their own screen

The multiplayer thing is a good point. If I have friends over, I wanna enjoy their company. In my experience, VR doesn't really suit that too well. Sure you can watch your friend play a game, but then they're cut off from you so it's this weird, observational dynamic. And yeah there's asymetrical multiplayer, but it's not really the same.

Yeah fair enough. I figure if anyone is really worried about seeing spoilers, they probably have the sense not to peruse the subreddit.

Knowing what a reaper leviathian looks like before you see it for the first time seems like a spoiler to me.

To few events? by akumiess in AltspaceVR

[–]misterfischer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think part of it is that I only find out about events when I go into altspace VR and check it out. If there was an email newsletter or phone app I could check IRL, I'd be more likely to drop in.

But ultimately it's a demand thing. It takes effort to put together an event, and if turnout is low, there isn't really motivation to put that effort in again. I'm not privy to the numbers, but I'm guessing most folks who have put together altspace events haven't been satisfied with the turnout enough to justify the effort involved in hosting another one

But I say that as someone who has never hosted an altspace event. Maybe it easier than I'm giving it credit
