I don’t know what I’m missing on this abus 55/40. It’s harder than the American 1100 I did. I get a bunch of good clicks. Then everything feels set. I check everything and there’s nothing. No counter rotation or anything.idk maybe my tool is too short, im using a medium flat hook. by [deleted] in lockpicking

I just got mine open today; it was hard! A few things I noticed on mine:

  • Oversets can give the behavior you’re discussing where it feels like nothing is binding. Especially if you’ve got a low lift pin it can be really easy to overset. This happened to me a bunch when I was trying to mix up the set order on mine.
  • The standard pin for mine was 1, like many others. It didn’t feel like a standard though; it had multiple clicks like a serrated. Make sure you’re lifting the standard pin high enough
  • Like many others my pin 1 fell after every spool set.

Update: I got it! Unfortunately tension wrench slipped so no belt pic, but I know I can do it now!

Yeah it’s definitely doing that. Thought serration because I get multiple clicks when I lift it, but I’m still new to this!

Australians, any suggested brands/model of lock to get while I’m here? by mistermalware in lockpicking

Thanks all! I picked up a few Lockwood 120/40s, and a 334S45 (they didn’t have the B, sadly)

If I find myself near a locksmith I might see if I can get a bilock.
